Got my Jaguar yesterday, pics inside!

Pretty cool stuff, $650 AU incl courier service from japan. Mightily beat up, but being Sonic Youth fans, you are desensitized to such visual woes. Fretwork is a bit iffy, i'll probably have to get it re-done. But it sounds fucking mad, like seriously crisp bridge pickup sounds and mellow neck pickup tones.

Image is kinda crap, I digitally lightened it, there was very low light at the time, even with flash. And the paint on the headstock is fine, just a bit of reflection makes it look worn.

Comments, questions?

whorefrost 06.05.2007 06:59 AM

cool as fuck

ZEROpumpkins 06.05.2007 07:01 AM

Cheers, but goddam it I hate the saddles. A good idea, but it just doesn't work.

terminal pharmacy 06.05.2007 07:02 AM

zero sweet, definitely worth the pittence you paid for it and spend some more get the intonation etc done

deathbyfeedback 06.05.2007 07:09 AM

an original?

king_buzzo 06.05.2007 08:13 AM

Cool! Vintage? Anyways it looks awesome.

LittlePuppetBoy 06.05.2007 10:38 AM

They're selling a jaguar bass at a music store in Ottawa.

king_buzzo 06.05.2007 10:41 AM

Hmm, there was always something about CIJ Sunburst jags that didnt appeal to me, the finish is darker that it should be. But they're still great guitars. I wanna white or lpblue jag someday

Danny Himself 06.05.2007 11:25 AM

Ohhh!

Very nice. I love guitars when they're beat up.

king_buzzo 06.05.2007 11:28 AM

Somehow, ^ beaten up guitars look cool only if theyre beaten up by the years and years, if you just take it one afternoon and fuck the shit out of it it doesnt look realistic. natural wear, ftw

CHOUT 06.05.2007 12:05 PM

nice score!
Looks just like my Jag that came back to life recently...I assume that's an early-mid 90's MIJ?

yesca 06.05.2007 05:13 PM

i got the bass version a week ago.... the red rocket/racer (i forget)...

Hahahaha fuck you CHOUT, fuck you. You've bred a god damn family there. A large one, like a pilgrim family.

pbradley 06.06.2007 12:03 AM

The stock one is cool & jangly but I HATE THE FUCKING SLAPBACK. Its annoyi ng.

pbradley 06.06.2007 05:59 AM

since most of what I play is hard and angry thrashin, the bridge leaves it pretty useless to me. I'll just buy a mustang bridge like my friend.

king_buzzo 06.06.2007 06:24 AM

T-o-M's are better for jags/jm's

ZEROpumpkins 06.06.2007 07:14 AM

Yeah the bridge is incredibly annoying, I can't believe it passed quality control.

king_buzzo 06.06.2007 09:50 AM

You can fix it. Its easy to get it tame the beast. Go to the offsetguitars forum and post there
Now!

Infinite J influence...:D
Mustang Bridges are the easiest way to alleviate the problems...speaking from experience...I'm gonna get another one for my Jag that just got fixed.

MellySingsDoom 06.06.2007 01:44 PM

Can I just say that, on looking at all the Jags and JM's here, I came?

Well J yeah. and a ton of people on the offsetguitar forum say that they're great and that theyre also loud while unplugged with the tom. I dislike the way mustang bridges look.

CHOUT 06.06.2007 02:45 PM

I'm sure the tuneomatic setup is nice, but it usually requires redrilling/rerouting of the body that can't so easily be done by us mere non-techs. I've never played one that way, I'd like to see what it's like.

I just think it's funny fender never caught on and redesigned the jm jag bridges or just added mustang bridges to 'em...they're so unfunctional by themselves.

king_buzzo 06.06.2007 02:55 PM

^Yeah even the company dissmissed them as the worst bridges but they dont seem to change them.

Yeah tuneomatics seem to add more sustain as well. I guess they're easy to install. You dont need to drill as long as they're standard tom's. But you do need to drill in the saddles.

Zeropumpkins, 2 things to do, take nail polish, apply it on the bridge saddles and the bridge post screws and leave it to dry (the nail polish hardens and it makes the bridge saddles stay in place and the bridge post screws in place so that they dont fall down. Also, if you can, wrap some tape around the bridge posts and the bottom screws, so that they dont touch the metal parts in the grounding posts, which will decrease buzz.

I need to redo my bridge soon, the nail polish is wearing out.

What colour do you use? Hot Pink???;)

ZEROpumpkins 06.07.2007 03:24 AM

:D
Do you have a Jag or JM yourself, buzzo? Your tips seem to suggest so.

No!!! Glittery silver.

Actually its just see through

JM's for life, ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!

ZEROpumpkins 06.07.2007 07:07 AM

Wow you have a Jazzmaster? Nice. That was my first choice. After I get a better amp and a bass i'll be after a JM. Do you have a MIJ JM, buzzo? I heard they come with jag pickups! You gotta get USA jazz pickups for that mellow Jazzmaster sound.

king_buzzo 06.07.2007 07:50 AM

Yeah! Its CIJ, as in crafted in japan which is a later version. Its so weird! The pickups arent wound like the original JM pickups!! They're more straty-single coil-ey which is fine but i wanna upgrade!!!!!!

I need a better amp and I'll probably get a Jag after.

Don't know which pickups to get though, theres a ton but im thinking about the USA or the SD Vintage. Hmmm

Those saddles are fucking murder, I've had so much wyrk done on my jazzmaster trying to circumvent that problem, it seems throwing it against the floor is the best solution for me.

king_buzzo 06.07.2007 01:16 PM

You 2 are idiots its so easy to fix it.
