Why must the Europeans wait until July for DDN deluxe?
Release date in USA is 12 June, in Europe it is 2 July. Why?
|
Actually it's "UK 2 July". I won't have to wait till July 2nd, as I'm french, I hope it'll be available on June 18th here
|
gotta check italian release date
|
It's a shame. We have to get up a petition. Daydream Nation For Everyone !!!!
|
"The CD version is available in Europe June 18 (Germany June 15, UK July 2)."
Different release dates aren't uncommon. I remember Murray Street came out about a month earlier in Europe than in the US, but then the US version came with some multimedia extras (screensaver plus URL link to "secret site"). Why? Who knows. |
probably beacause there will be a different german version and UK version. lol, or maybe not, it's probably distribution crap.
|
Well it's fucking annoying.
Please can we have an international embargo on posting about the deluxe edition until July 2nd? Otherwise I'm going to get all upset that everyone else can listen to it three weeks before me. |
Ok, I'm gonna stop my silly postings. Soon. I promise. Sure.

But it from the US in June through the 'internet' or something. That'll teach them (well, if significant numbers of people buy it on import which isn't likely). |
It's not as if the album itself isn't out already.
|
That's hardly the point.

Release dates have varied for eons.
In 1974 I ordered a Gentle Giant record from the UK and got it several weeks before the US release. And it sounded tons better ! The oil 'crisis' at the time caused many labels to use shitty vinyl and the Europeans/UK used a higher quality mixture, so I bought MOSTLY imported records around that time. |
Excatly. It's not as if this is the first time that it will happen.
|
it is rather annoying though, it took ages to find the release date for the UK. Having such big gaps in release dates cant be good for the labels either especially in the file sharing era.

Ah! if it's too annoying, then maybe you could get some nice person outside UK to get it for you? |
I know in the past it used to coincide with the bands tour schedule but technology etc. has rendered that obselete.
As for Japanese extra tracks it apperently gives consummers the opportunity to have something 'special' as well as deter saturation of American made copies or whatever. This is across the board for music in Japan and not just a Sonic Youth type anaomly. Quote:
