Summer albums

Got any?

My music listening can get seasonal. That is, there's certain stuff that really sounds great in a particular season.

Okay, I'll go first. This summer:

Their Satanic Majesties Request (trippy, just sounds so right on a nice sunny day!)

Slanted & Enchanted

Byrds stuff

Battles - Mirrored

The Trashmen - Surfin' Bird

The Electric Prunes

Bob Dylan - Freewheelin', Bringing It All Back Home, Hwy 61 Rvstd

The Who - My Generation

The Sonics - Introducing..., Busy Body!!!

Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk

king_buzzo 06.13.2007 03:34 PM

Pretty cool stuff you got there. One thing i noticed, as the summer approaches, I begin to love later SY. Its always like that.

HECKLER SPRAY 06.13.2007 04:14 PM

Ice baby,
I saw your girlfriend and she was
eating her fingers like they're just another meal
but she waits there
in the levee washes
mixin' cocktails with a plastic-tipped cigar

My eyes stick to all the shiny roses
you wear on the protein delta strip
in an abandoned house but i will wait there
i'll be waiting forever...
i'll wait and wait and wait...

Minerals, ice deposits daily, dropped off
the first shiny robe
i've got a lot of things i want to sell, but
not here, babe-- tortuuurreeee...

every time i sit around i find i'm shot
every time i sit around i find i'm shot
every time i turn around i find i'm shot
every time i sit around i find i'm shot
every time every time...
you're my... summer babe

I'm thinking some sort of Denny Martin mix.

Or a Parliament/Funkadelic record.

Maybe, War's The World is a Ghetto, for those in that part of town.

This just reminded me of the Ramones cover. Anything by the ramones is brilliant for summer.

Yeah surf rock!!!

screamingskull 06.14.2007 09:40 AM

someone say surf rock?????

gmku 06.14.2007 10:12 AM

People keep telling me I need to have the album. I can't bring myself to do it.

screamingskull 06.14.2007 10:13 AM

Do It Do It!!!!

gmku 06.14.2007 10:19 AM

I passed on the double LP reissue--one LP stereo, the other mono. The record store manager was pushing it at me, insisting I'd like it. But it was going for more than 25 bucks. I start to feel queasy when I dish out that much cash for one LP.

Besides I expect to see the Daydream Nation 4LP thing any day now, and I'm afraid I'll be suckered into paying for that expensive pile of shite.

screamingskull 06.14.2007 10:20 AM

hell yeah, my dad sent me a copy of it ages ago so it was free. Get some Rundgren instead then!!!!!
