Favourite U2 songs.
Hi everybody. Right here is the place where you can list your favourite U2 songs. Come on, admit it. You DO like them, even if it's "uncool" (or whatever words the young people are using these days) to admit it.
I start with the Edge-riffery of "I Will Follow". What say you? |
I don't think cool or uncool comes into it.
File alongside Phil Collins, Madonna, and Queen. Bad wedding music. |
Best spam thread ever.
|
I'll absolutely admit to owning and liking the first few records...
"I Will Follow" IS a great song... Other favorites include "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "Gloria", and "New Years Day". |
bicorn, check this http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...2&postcount=56
On a second thought, I think I like "Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car." Back in the days my bigger brother listened a lot to Achtung Baby and Zooropa. |

Wait until atari sees this thread, unless he's been sedated for a few days.

Where the Streets Have No Name (but only the Pet Shop Boys' version)
|
Negativland's "U2" ain't bad...
|
Here's another one - New Year's Day
|
I pretty much like everything except Rattle and Hum, which isn't exactly a standard album anyway.
Fave song? Bad, maybe. |
every U2 song i've ever heard has the same exact chorus. it's just the title of the song repeated. and before anyone says, "yeah, lots of bands do that!" but i mean seriously... U2 is the worst offender. i find a lot of their earlier songs especially interchangeable.
that being said, they're probably the least annoying "godhead" bands from the 80's that critics still worship for whatever reason. unfortunately, my favorite song by them is probably that stupid batman forever song just because it has this really awesome riff in it in one part... remember u2's excursion into techno though? zaroopa. that was the stupidest shit known to man. and no one can forget... "AYYYYYYY AYYYY YI YI DISCOTHEQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE." god damn. stupid stupid band with an overrated but still decent guitar player. bono can suck my fucking cock though. |
I dont want to miss a thing.
|
okay, changed my mind: "clocks"
|
It would be so great to line U2 up against a wall and gun them all down. I can't describe how much fun it would be to shoot those ridiculous nascar shades off of Bono's face.
|
Danny, I 'd never have thought you could be so violent !!!
But... You're damn right, I 'd like too. That'd be great !! I can stand this band. |
Sunday Bloody Sunday + New Year's Day
|
One, Who's gonna ride your wild horses, The fly, Ultraviolet, Acrobat, Love is blindness, all the songs on The Joshua tree, Wire, The unforgettable fire, Promenade, New year's day, Like a song, Drowning man, 40, 11 O'clock Tick Tock, Gloria and I will follow (the versions on "Under a blood red sky" for the last 3 songs)
|
I like the ones that Diesel likes, but that's only because Diesel makes me laugh. Can't bloody stand the utes myself, load of old racket if you ask me.

You were near that's "Red hill mining town". |
U2 have some coating to explain, and the coating gets irritating. Still, they wrote (I dunno about their current output) some good songs.
|
I like a few things from Unforgetttable Fire and Joshua Tree.
The songs A Sort of Homecoming, Unforgettable Fire, Bad and Bullet the Blue Sky stick in the mind. |
my favourite U2 song is the one where they ripped of sonic youth.
no, i dunno... they have some good songs. maybe that live version of bad. |

You're talking about the "dirty boots" ripoff, I believe? What was the name, though.... I think it's fairly new? |
i have to admit i kind of found them tolerable during the pop era, i actually applauded them from stepping away from their usual crap and for saving enough money to buy the retch a phase pedal and a wah and hiding his digital delay. discoteque was hilarious, mofo had some good production and staring at the sun is their best song ever. most of it's still crap though.
of course, they got afraid because they sold 4 trillion tickets of their tour and the album went quintuple platinum instead of sextuple, so they decided to give the retch his pedal and write sunday crappy sunday over and over again. |
We got a gig last St Patricks day doing U2 songs...not much of a fan, but Wire is probably my favorite
here is a video of us covering it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HYKANxdHHiE |
