'Cross the Breeze or The Sprawl?
 

Which of these two Kim's songs do you prefer?

I don't know...they are both pretty good to me...

I'll say the Sprawl, but tomorrow I'd probably say 'Cross the Breeze.

I think I like The Sprawl better, the ending is just amazing. It starts out very energetic, by the end it lulls you.

Both for me.

The Sprawl is the conceptual pillar of the album but I probably enjoy 'Cross The Breeze more.

Just finished reading Matthew Stearn's '33 1/3 Daydream Nation' book (Thanks to Sonicl). It was interesting but he had a totally different view of the songs to me. So much has been written about Sonic Youth writing 'New-York music' but to me Sonic Youth has always been about wide-open sprawling America. The canyons, death valley, endless suburbs. All there albums up until Goo were driving records, hitting the highway till the sun comes up. The Sprawl and Cross' The Breeze seemed to represent this more than any other songs on DDN.

It's one of my favorite songs ever, but the sprawl is also excellent. If the sprawl is better live than my mind may change. Close race though.

Its tough to choose... they both stretch out in similar ways with long winding outros, the sprawl to me is one of those signature sounding SY songs yet it has a beautiful intertwining guitar melody and an amazing ending sequence. 'crosse the breeze like said previously is just a bad-ass pummelling song, probably one of the "fastest" and "heaviest" (not like heavey guitar but "heady-heavy") songs in the catalog which to me makes it a fav. on the album...

Sprawl... Luv to listen to Kim sing "is fuck you simple enough" and I dig the intro and the chorus part. Can't wait 2 see um in Chicago.

The Sprawl's ending is awesome, but the first part goes in the same vein than other SY songs from the goo era.
Cross the breeze, instead, it's a unique song, one of the most powerful in Sy's discography and it's great from start to finish.

best SY lyrics ever, great delivery from Kim, incredible drone riffs, surging energy, and as everybody else has mentioned, that blasted beauty of a coda......

That's like asking if I prefer air to breathe or water to drink. Maybe a slight edge to Cross the Breeze. These two songs are at the very top of SY's achievements and are the main reason I'm so excited for the DDN show.
