Radiohead: Worth a roadtrip and 300 bucks?

Is Radiohead good live? They are my favorite band ever pretty much and I have a chance to possibly see them 2 times this summer if I can scrounge up the cash and if they are really playing in Chicago.

Anyone else heard anything about the rumoured Chicago shows?

dietzer123 04.30.2006 10:11 PM

they're worth a road trip from iowa to tennesse

Everyneurotic 04.30.2006 10:15 PM

if i had the money i would do it.

never seen them live, but i've seen like hundreds of videos of them playing live (not to mention audio boots) and they are very intense.

i say go for it man!!

HaydenAsche 04.30.2006 10:16 PM

That is kind of the thing. Money is pretty tight. I mean it isn't until the middle of June but I would probably have to buy tickets before they sold out.

truncated 04.30.2006 10:34 PM

The Auditorium isn't a bad venue - good acoustics. I was thinking of going myself just for the hell of it, I've never seen them live either.

Sell your sperm.

HaydenAsche 04.30.2006 10:36 PM

If truncated goes I will make a point to be there.

krastian 04.30.2006 10:55 PM

Radiohead are pretty immaculate live, but 300 dollars might be a little insane. Road trips are almost always worth it I think. I'd go if I had 300 bucks to lay down for a concert though.

HaydenAsche 04.30.2006 10:56 PM

Well, It is 300 for two shows and a 3 day weekend in Chicago. Not just to see him.

krastian 04.30.2006 10:58 PM

Do it up if you got the cash. Can you get tix?

HaydenAsche 04.30.2006 11:03 PM

I dunno. www.greenplastic.com says they go on sale May 6th but Ticketmaster and the Venue's site don't have any info.

truncated 04.30.2006 11:14 PM

If you go Gooey, I'll go. And there is tons to do in Chicago that is absolutely free. And I might be able to cop a feel.

Savage Clone 04.30.2006 11:15 PM

Road trip shows are fun.
I have gone to Chicago to see a few things. That's not a bad drive.

Well, we will be in town 3 days. Who knows what could happen?

Savage Clone 04.30.2006 11:17 PM

Three days is long enough to conceal evidence.

HaydenAsche 04.30.2006 11:17 PM

3 days is long enough to have a heterosexual affair.

Savage Clone 04.30.2006 11:19 PM

Scandal.

HaydenAsche 04.30.2006 11:20 PM

Ya Rly.

Oh ok. Well then you should be golden. But make sure you order the tix right when they go on sale. They usually go on sale at 10 AM, right?

nature scene 05.01.2006 01:12 AM

as much as i get bored by radiohead, they would probably give a good live show... if you are into boring music.

Richard Pryor on Fire 05.01.2006 01:44 AM

I saw radiohead in Barie, Ontario and had a great time they played like 3-4 encores and sounded great. I recomend it, if you can afford it.

atsonicpark 05.01.2006 02:02 AM

no.

no way.

nope.

nada.

_slavo_ 05.01.2006 05:22 AM

i'm gonna go see them live this Summer in Budapest, Hungary...will be a blast I guess. Been a fan of theirs for like 10 years now.

300 bucks is more than enough tho.

Scars4Eyes 05.01.2006 05:52 AM

I have seen 'm three times and should urge you: go and spend the money,
they're well worth it (if you don't have to beg for food for the rest of the year).

Neongod 05.18.2006 01:50 AM

Hell yes it's worth it. They mix up their setlists every show. And the new songs for the most part are fucking ace.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.18.2006 01:40 PM

to answer yr question, yes.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.18.2006 01:44 PM

and damn my pot smoking memory to have been on point about getting tickets for the LA show. I just found out about this all right now, cuz I haven't checked up on Radiohead since February. damn it. if I was selling coke and had three hundred bucks to burn then I'd definately be going as well.

darthblav 05.18.2006 03:22 PM

I feel no band is worth paying 300 bucks for. Especially to pay some scalper on ebay who got the tickets for 40 bucks a piece. I tried to get tickets for the radiohead shows and failed, but there will always be other chances. Just go to chicago for the weekend, see a show at the metro/empty bottle/scubas, take in a cubs game, get a steak at gibsons, enjoy millenium park, etc.

I did see them in chicago at grant park and they were stellar. The auditorium is also amazing. Not only a Louis Sullivan classic design but it sounds great too. I saw Wilco there a couple of years ago.

h8kurdt 05.18.2006 03:32 PM

Go, your ahving fun doing other things as well. Think of it as a long weekend holiday. Just do it, man.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.18.2006 09:23 PM

being even more a stoner, I just found out the public sale goes on Wednesday 5/24. I dont even want to pay the 40 bucks!

Meh. You didn't realize that I was just paying 80 for tickets both nights and the rest was on expenses and gas and hotels and junk.

golden child 05.18.2006 09:51 PM

i thought you meant 300 for the shows, but for 300 the whole trip id say go. take pictures, record, sightsee and have fun.

40 dollars is kinda high, but if they are your favorite band id go for it.

noisemachine 05.18.2006 10:09 PM

Do it. They are amazing live. I saw them in 2004 and they played an awesome set. Just got tickets to see them in Berkeley in June!

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.19.2006 01:28 AM

i'll be crossing my fingers to get some at the public sale. i'm sure they'll be sold out in less then five minutes since I saw a set of six going for 1000 bucks on ebay! and it isn't even technically sold out yet!

darthblav 05.19.2006 02:43 PM

well then if you have the tickets already, i would say it is a go. i thought you were going to pay 300 for tickets alone, which is happening all of ebay right now.

travelzoo always has chicago hotels with huge deals(100 for 4 stars), plus on priceline i have gotten sweet chicago deals (like 90 for 4 stars), plus I believe the allegro which is right by the theatre you can get for like 120 a night with no special deal necessary and it is pretty nice.

hope that helps. i am jealous because i really wanted to go to that show.

h8kurdt 05.20.2006 12:16 PM

Tout's I fucking hate tout's. They should make all tickets id only.
