Glastonbury coverage
Your Highlights/lowlights
The Arcade Fire - The material from Neon Bible isnt up to that from Funeral bar No Cars Go and the working for the church one. |
uhmm...
the neon bible material is great live what are you talking about? |
well thats my opinion, i think theyve tried to become too overtly populist. The reason they became popular in the first place was because their songs were more personal than on Neon Bible. Im talking in general, and live (just from Glastonbury) it hasnt changed my mind.

We are off topic somewhat, has anyone been watching Glastonbury festival footage and what do they think? |
Quote:
Nah it was on BBC2 from about 8, then continuous on BBC4 and BBC3. Arctic Monkeys did look like good fun yeah, they showed some of the Hold Steady and reminded me of exactly why i was sorely dissappointed i bought one of their albums. |
Arcade Fire were good, and Rufus. Did anyone see The Stooges /w WATT on jonathan ross?
|
I saw one song by the Fratelli's and started to feel ill.
|
Friday night highlight: Good Shoes
Lowlight: No coverage of The Cribs set at all... although a few mini interviews with a couple of the members. Today/night's coverage starts in about an hour on BBC2 Who knows what it will bring? |
Theyre showing some Bjork, she was really good even though i have no albums, her show and music fit together really well.
|
Christ this Paulo Nutini gimp is annoying
|
have they shown any people covered in mud and shit yet? all those people who go swimming in it get e-coli afterwards haha.
|
So far (for the Saturday) Pigeon Detectives were amazing... and Editors are suprisingly good on here as well...
Low-lights? Probably Paolo Nutini or Calvin Harris... |
Stooges coverage soon on BBC 4
|

I actually quite enjoyed Paulo Nutini. Arcade Fire were OK too. Pigeon Detectives reeked. Editors were good. I wish John Fogarty would just stop. Not keen on The Killers. Enjoyed Amy Winehouse more than I thought I would. Are the Stooges on yet? |
My God. The Stooges just destroy everythiung else playing at Glastonbury this year.
|
Paulo Nutini is appaling in every way
The Stooges are on now on BBC4 |
Quote:
It doesnt seem extremely rowdy but compared to the tame indie nothingness of most of whats on they kill everything |
I stand corrected, No Fun had EVERYONE up on the stage, its fucking fantastic. The Stooges are fucking wonderful arent they
|

You said it, bitch. |
Stooges rocked
|
Quote:
They certainly did. By far the highlight of Glastonbury so far. |
Shirley Bassey was funny for a while
I dont really like the Kaiser Cheifs music but their live show seems like nice all-inclusive fun The View continue to be the most pointless band in existence. I avoided watching The Killers, not because i hate them but just because they arent good enough to be headlining Glastonbury Manic Street Preachers were the most toothless ive ever seen them - so much so theyve desparately taken to adapting the reverse "R"s from The Holy Bible in an attempt to look somewhat edgy. |
can't watch it, every time i do my mum talks over the tv about her glastonbury days.
|
K'Naan were excellent
John Fogerty provided a good end to Saturday. We enjoyed that; 'Keep on Chooglin' in particuar provided top entertainment. |
They're all going to drown.. and the ones that don't are coming home with trench foot.
|
The Who were damn good. Teenage Wasteland rocked!
|
any audio recordings surfaced on the internet yet?
|
Best two bands at glastonbury:
The specials Chemical brothers It was pretty ropy on the whole. I only went to work there to earn some cash. |
amazing, all a blur, loved it, stooges and beirut did the best shows by me.

I saw Beirut on the TV Sunday night, i quite enjoyed it, although i thought the vocals sounded quite bad. It's probably much better when you're actually there though. |
