Roundhouse support

Its now less than 4 weeks til the first Roundhouse show and still no word on support acts.
This means either :
1) something really special is lined up and they're keeping it under wraps til the last minute, or
2) the support is going to be really crap!

So, which is it? Someone must know something...

Moshe 08.03.2007 08:27 AM

the Meat Puppet are going to open in Texas.

Washing Machine 08.03.2007 10:10 AM

Im really hoping its Be Your Own PET, just cause ive been meaning to see them for sometime. I could kill 2 birds with one stone.

auto-aim 08.03.2007 10:15 AM

dino jr would be cool

Washing Machine 08.03.2007 10:24 AM

....and wholly appropriate considering

badgercorn 08.03.2007 02:43 PM

Orphan Fairytale are listed for the Glasgow support, dunno if it'll be the same..

the ikara cult 08.03.2007 02:46 PM

It all seems so up in the air.
If its an American band then they would have booked other gigs/a tour seeing as theyll be over, so thats the only clue i can imagine.

AND my ticket came today, thankfully its one of the classy ones that you can keep afterwards and hang on the wall, so im delighted.

Kyohan 08.03.2007 04:51 PM

It could be someone else who's playing Electric Picnic that weekend, but the only real contenders I see there are Deefhoof (which I would find a little disappointing, personally).
The trend from other gigs seems to be bands with some history (Red Kross, Meat Puppets, Slits, etc) so hopefully there's something good up their sleeve, but time is getting pretty short.

PAULYBEE2656 08.03.2007 05:44 PM

its gonna be probably a local band in fairness......

PAULYBEE2656 08.03.2007 05:45 PM

regarding the picnic........iggy and the stooges could be there but thats just wet dream land i suppose.....

Dont be saying things like that!

GrungeMonkey 08.06.2007 03:11 PM

Pretty much any of these bands would be awesome. I'm sure they won't let us down.

auto-aim 08.07.2007 11:24 AM

"London, Roundhouse, Friday 31st August, SOLD OUT (Support Car Sick Cars)
London, Roundhouse, Saturday 1st September, SOLD OUT (Support Chris Corsano and Mick Flowers)"

Fantastic!

GrungeMonkey 08.07.2007 03:45 PM

Who are Chris Corsano and Mick Flowers? Never heard of them... I wish I was going on another night now, I'm at least a little familiar with Car Sick Cars.

sonicl 08.07.2007 03:46 PM

Prepare to be blown away, Mr Monkey! (By which I mean "prepare to be amazed", not "prepare to be shot")

GrungeMonkey 08.07.2007 03:53 PM

What are they like?

Normally I don't like this kind of music at all. But I was amazed pretty much throughout their full set, and laughing out loud for the rest. Amazed at Corsano's drumming skills, and laughing out loud for Yeh's "singing" and Flaherty's style of sax playing (I prefer smooth jazz).
I probably won't ever buy one of their albums, but if I ever get a chance to see Corsano again, I'll grab it with both hands.
So even if you won't like it, you'll still not be bored to death :D
And as a bonus, they joined SY on stage during the encore (Expressway...). Hopefully you'll get lucky too!

I've no clue who Mick Flowers is though

Damn! Saturday is the only day I'm not going :(
Where did you see this info?

GrungeMonkey 08.07.2007 06:08 PM

Well it sounds like this Chris Corsano chap is pretty good... Looking forward to seeing him work!

I've managed to resist the temptation to claim that he's Herbie Flowers' son, as I suspect that the reference would be lost on all but a few of the older boardies. He is, in fact, a member of the mighty Vibracathderal Orchestra.

jon boy 08.08.2007 03:55 AM

mick flower is amazing, i am really pissed off that i will be missing the saturday one as i am more excited about seeing corsano/flower that sy.

Washing Machine 08.08.2007 05:29 AM

Never heard of them but they kind of sound like the velvets so it should be cool.

farmhouse 08.08.2007 05:59 AM

excellent!

saw corsano/flaherty/yeh/moore do the dream/aktion unit bit last december and was simply blown away by corsano's skills . . . unbelievable!

sarramkrop 08.08.2007 06:09 AM

I saw Chris Corsano twice last year and he was terrific. I'd love to see Flower playing live too, but I probably will when Vibracathedral Orchestra are playing later on this month.

Tokolosh 08.08.2007 06:53 AM

Corsano's magic.

yes! . . . i was at this show. awesomeness abundance!

superthanks!

pokkeherrie 08.08.2007 07:15 AM

Hmmmmm... could be worse, could be better.

I was sort of expecting Carsick Cars because they were already announced as openers in Austria and they don't seem to be doing a tour of their own, similar to Afrirampo on the 2004 euro tour. I reckon they'll probably get some more support slots then since they're flying over all the way from China.

Corsano/Flower is nice of course, but I would've preferred some less usual suspects... I've seen both of them many times now, although never as a duo.

sonicl 08.08.2007 07:17 AM

^
So do you think you'll be over for the shows, or will you give them a miss?

pokkeherrie 08.08.2007 07:25 AM

hehe, to be honest i'm still not 100% sure... but i'm leaning towards going now. i don't really have high expectations anymore but maybe that's actually a good thing.

it's only in 3 weeks now, so i better make a decision quick. booking a plane ticket looks easier now than offloading tickets.

_slavo_ 08.08.2007 07:27 AM

I'm glad I'll see Corsano/Flowers. I'll see Carsick Cars open in Vienna, however, I have no clue, who will be opening in Prague (probably Carsick Cars, too).

farmhouse 08.08.2007 07:38 AM

has anyone seen carsick cars before? . .. from what i've heard they sound quite appealing to my ear . . . i can hear something of the glenn branca influence they appear to mention.

Palmer Eldritch 08.11.2007 02:17 PM
