Stupid Argument for the Cause of Rape

Have any of you guys heard this one?

A woman who wears tight and revealing clothes should not be surprised if she is raped.

Really who in the fuck thinks this is true.

sonicl 08.11.2007 12:59 AM

It's not right, but to a certain mindset ("If a women goes out with her tits hanging out and a skirt that stops just below her pussy she must be out for sex"), it is true. That mindset is a fucked-up one, of course, but that doesn't stop it from existing.

Dead-Air 08.11.2007 01:00 AM

Seek out the song "White Boy" by Bikini Kill from their first album. Kind of sums up that attitude really well with samples from a guy who seems to really believe it. Camile Paglia created quite a buzz around the same time by saying much the same thing while calling herself a "do me feminist", whatever that means.

SynthethicalY 08.11.2007 01:03 AM

I know, I hate that fucking mindset, why can't people be reeducated to think differently?

atsonicpark 08.11.2007 07:11 AM

i originally thought this said "a girl who wears tights and revealing clothing" and i was like "mmm.. tights!"...if a guy has such a problem with a girl wearing tight and revealing clothes in public (which personally grosses me out and just makes me not want to talk to that person), then that guy can simply go to the bathroom and jerk off instead of goin "oh man she was askin for dat rape!" indeed.. a stupid argument for the cause of rape.

Prisstina 08.11.2007 07:22 AM

yeah, but heres the thing. men who argue that are obviously dangerous idiots who are stubborn to the fact that its not okay for them to touch, violate, or rape any woman, even if they're dressed like a harlot. "educating" them differently won't do any good. its unfortunate but women therefore need to cover themselves up in public or they're essentially putting a "touch me!" sign around their neck.

atsonicpark 08.11.2007 07:54 AM

rape has happened, currently happens, and will always happen regardless of what a girl wears, so this argument has no bearing either way. men rape women for varieties of reasons, and if the urge to rape isn't just going to suddenly appear because a chick is wearing tight pants.

here here.

ThePits 08.11.2007 08:15 AM

Rape can never be justified under any circumstances
People can dress it up with pleas of mitigation such as "she was showing her tits and obviously wanted it" to "she is an adulterer and its a justified punishment by the men of the village"
Its also more about control than the sex act itself
A heinous crime against the person that can never be morally or ethically sanitised by any excuse

MellySingsDoom 08.11.2007 10:19 AM

Synth - whatever you do, don't read any books by Peter Sotos, or the Answer Me! "Rape" issue!

SynthethicalY 08.11.2007 10:22 AM

Now melly, when people tell me not to do something, I need to do it now. But then again I think that is not what you are trying to tell me. You want me to read it. Now there is a dilemma.

Well, when I said not read, I meant for you to read it, but not to, because of the....or do I mean not not read it...but is that the right thing to say...can't make up mind *head explodes*.

i've mentally raped under this argument and the women in cause didnt seem to bother.

one thing i'm sure,

women wearing tight and revealing clothes should expect being mentally raped.

regarding your sig, where exactly is it that boys are taught to rape to begin with that we should suddenly change the curriculum cuz this sounds like a really fucked up school.

Thank god I was taught not to rape or I would have been raping left and right since puberty. Maybe even before that! Boys must need to be taught this as we are all apparently ticking rapey timebombs.

Seriously, that kind of thing is such tiresome, no-longer-remotely-provocative, Dworkin-esque propaganda; I can't believe you would use it in a signature like that. You know what turns me on? Enthusiastic response from a willing partner. So sorry to disappoint, but I'm just not cut out for the raping.

And I didn't need to be "taught" jack shit about this act to not have any desire to engage in it.

I hope you don't buy into that whole "all men are rapists" line, Synth. That kind of self-hating supplication to the most extreme and bigoted wing of the women's movement really makes me sick to my stomach. You're a nice guy, but seriously, fuckin' a.

Toilet & Bowels 08.11.2007 06:35 PM

i was never taught not to rape, i better watch out incase i force myself on a girl by accident. the showers in men's prisons are no laughing matter if you're as pretty as i am.

Prisstina 08.11.2007 06:47 PM

Boys Should Be Taught Not To Rape

Yeah, the Muslim leader here in Australia basically made a similar claim.
