Reassesing the entire discography of every single one hit wonder that made a record
C'mon lads! This won't take much of an effort, will it?

that one song: good catchy number that instantly takes you back to where you heard it first OR awful "musical" advert that irritates you to the point of mortality
those two other songs: the would be follow up hits that are not quite as good. rest of the album: shit. |

I didn't know that the Chipmunks were a one-hit wonder.

you wrapped this thread up really nice, Tuna-Curtains.

didn't know "Whoo hoo" was considered a *hit*. i know it was on like 3 tv commercials and in kill bill and on the uk singles chart (not # 1) but.. i thought these were, like, # 1 hit singles ..

oh no, akon is no one hit wonder, he's had more number ones than the beatles. smack that, on the floor, smack that, till you get sore, smack that, oh oh ohoh (i seriously can't name or recognize another of his r kelly-wannabe songs). |
Was that all listed on Wikipedia er something... damn!?
and yeah how is someone ranked as a "one hit wonder" in this current decade, there is always a chance they would return w/ another hit? No? When did "Puss" by The Jesus Lizard become a hit??? did I "blink" when that one happened??? As far as i know the single reached #12 in the UK and that was most likely because it was a split single with Nirvana! |
Come with Me" by Special D (he had other hits in Europe)
This is my favourite song of all time, some of you may be interested to know. It's only been in that top spot for a year or so, but it's not showing any signs of moving. These are British one-hit wonders. If you don't like them, get your own bloody charts. Flat Beat by Mr Oizo was a good tune in retrospect. That Baz Luhrman song was definitely not. Mr V - Yes, I suspect you're right about the Jesus Lizard. |
if only they'd had david yow on top of the pops, just imagine
|
That Dunblaine song was a fucking disgrace, charity or no charity. (Note: I'm not being spitefully cruel here - I read a lot about the Dunblaine massacre at the time, and the last thing that was needed was a cnuting charidee record[/rant])
|
Yeah, there's loads like that. Norman Cook under the name 'Norman Cook' has only had one hit, but under his million other aliases (and I think he holds the record for most number ones under different names) he's got loads.
|
m2m were definitely no one hit wonder.
|
I love them all. Especially that "I'm Too Sexy" song by Right Said Fred. That's a total smoker. The chicks throw off their clothes to it every time.
