... and Francoise Hardy

Cantankerous 09.04.2007 07:17 PM

oooh she was beautiful

i love the beautiful old buildings
and the food...whoever said irish or english food was bad was full of shit. and of course french food is absolutely fantastic.
and how the women in paris carry themselves
and just walking aimlessly without a map and seeing where i end up which is hard for me to do in the US because i know where i'm going.

Danny Himself 09.04.2007 07:31 PM

- The effortlessly stylish Francais
- The Vatican
- Football

...That is all.

pbradley 09.04.2007 07:49 PM

I've only been to Ireland but I loved the rolling hills and Bed & Breakfasts.

I would have loved the bars if I wasn't 13 years old at the time.

demonrail666 09.04.2007 07:53 PM

The cities.

Football.

The cars.

Monica Vitti.

4. drinking beer on the street, also getting beer without an ID
5. Trains! Great way to get around.
6. Always good beer on tap at restaurants
7. Pompeii
8. The islamic parts in the south east where you can hear the prayer calls
9. The Graffiti
10. Architecture in general

Cantankerous 09.04.2007 08:09 PM

uhm i don't know if you've ever actually been there but there are tons of fat people in england.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.04.2007 08:13 PM

well, europe in general has a lot less fat people

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.04.2007 08:16 PM

Smart cars?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.04.2007 08:22 PM

Yeah. That's it.

Thing is, on a US highway you'd have no chance against the huge SUVs and trucks.

Fuck the gov't for destroying the railroad industry.

sonicl 09.05.2007 01:13 AM

I dunno. The fact that even when it's busy, it seems relaxed, I guess. Although obviously that doesn't apply to England, when we have no idea whatsoever how to be laid back.

!@#$%! 09.05.2007 01:15 AM

beautiful women

pantophobia 09.05.2007 07:45 AM

off the top of my head....

you use coins for 1 and 2 pound and euros, the us uses paper bills for 1s and 2 dollar bills are rare to find

actual global coverage of sports

less congestion due to the better rail systems

less violence and more sex on tv

on average, better festival lineups

ive discovered this too....these little $2 aussie coins fly out of my pocket...whereas my Washington's were a lot harder to let go of...

pantophobia 09.05.2007 11:20 AM

i find it a little annoying cause it costs like $70 mil more to use paper which has a short life span compared to coins which are so durable

and dollar coins would be nice for vending machines or turnstyles, compared to the potential of the machine not taking a dollar cause it was too ripped or something

and there actually are dollar coins, but they are not being made to replace paper, only to complement, and americans are too damn stuborn to give up the bills

sonicl 09.05.2007 11:24 AM

But on the other hand, coins ruin whatever they're kept in (pocket or wallet) incredibly quickly, whereas notes do no damage at all.

!@#$%! 09.05.2007 11:27 AM

i hate to have a pocket full of coins, sounds like a rattle.

i favor the abolition of the penny, a useless coin. round it all out to the nearest 20th of a dollar & use nickels.

dollar coins would be nice. 5 dollar coins even.

pantophobia 09.05.2007 11:30 AM

i guess my opinion is a little bias cause i am a coin collecter:rolleyes:

sonicl 09.05.2007 11:30 AM

Is it the US$ or the Euro that the notes are all the same size? That's bloody stupid, that is.

oh man oh man--- maybe you can help me?

i have a pirate coin that i want to sell (true story), but i have no idea what's the best way to go about it-- could you tell me how?

don't worry about making this thread your private PM. that's what threads are for these days.

pantophobia 09.05.2007 11:45 AM

mostly american, but i tend to go after other countries as i visit

for the pirate coin, i say get it appraised, check your area for coin collectors, i have no experience in that area, but that seems to be the way to go, escially if it is worth in the mid to high 3 figures

http://www.coin-newbies.com/FAQ/faqappraise.html

this is a little link that could help

!@#$%! 09.05.2007 11:49 AM

ah ok... i've seen one of those sold for $250 on ebay but mine is all encrusted-- supposedly it was fished out from the bottom of the ocean and i dont know if i should have it cleaned with one of those ultrasound things or if i should leave it alone.

it's from 1808, minus the holes, it has some green spots on...

anyway, thanks for that link, i guess i have to take it to somebody in albuquerque after all. i always forget.

jico. 09.05.2007 11:58 AM

lol i live in the original albuquerque.

i dunno i had a couple of ones when i was a kid, we used to do that and nothing happened to the coins.
you're supposed to let them alone poured in vinegar for a couple of hours.

you can get $1 coins but they are the size of a dinner plate and weigh as much as a large grapefruit.

thing i like about europe is the history, we are more stylish, sophisticated and more accepting etc. oh and cheese.

jon boy 09.05.2007 12:27 PM

oh yes and roads with bends and curves in them.

- The weird bits of England that don't make any sense (Mummers, Morris Dancing, Darky Days)

Actually, pretty much everything about life I like exists in legions in this continent. But then I've spent nearly no time in my life outside of this wonderful continent. East Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and the Far-East are all on the cards, and I'm obliged to visit the West Coast of North America sometime soon.

I am a bloody seduction MACHINE when I'm travelling..

Washing Machine 09.05.2007 02:02 PM

The BBC English accent is still my favourite accent ever.

Most people assume that because I'm welsh I have a welsh accent, I love the shock when I tell people i'm actually welsh. I love the general feeling of Europe and of course the diversity.

Danny Himself 09.05.2007 02:09 PM

I didn't know how scouse I was until I went to London...

"you have such a scouse accent!"
