I'm also rather partial to those Oat and Sultana cookies from the Sainsburys bakery section.

pbradley 09.06.2007 05:40 AM

This reminds of the time I visited Ireland and after a late breakfast at the B&B we were staying at, the lady asked me if I wanted a biscuit (I was 13 at the time) and I was all like "uh, no thanks I already had some of the bread with the breakfast." But then she opened the cabinet and it was literally filled with all kinds of Cadbury confections.

I think that as one of the last innocent confused/happy moments of my childhood.

jon boy 09.06.2007 06:07 AM

there are obviously some missing, gariboldi, party rings, jammy dodgers, disco etc.

o o o 09.06.2007 06:40 AM

the first that came to my mind:

speculoos/speculaas

o o o 09.06.2007 06:45 AM

also those cinnamon christmas biscuits are excellent:

i used to help my mother prepare some when i was a kid.

pokkeherrie 09.06.2007 08:22 AM

jon boy 09.06.2007 08:26 AM

there are many factors related to my decision, dunkability, longevity and overall taste satisfaction.

Every time I want to give rep - it's people that already have some from me. Thanks for your consistency.

If it's cookies we're talking about - they have to be home made and not from a package. Add some chocolate chips and pecans and then we're talkin'.

My mom makes some awesome baked goods around Christmas time. They are little twists and are inherently Italian.

ALIEN ANAL 09.06.2007 09:12 AM

yeh they are scones

screamingskull 09.06.2007 09:18 AM

Digestive, with a big cup of tea.

Since you ask, the name "digestive" derived from the belief that the biscuits had antacid properties due to the use of bicarbonate of soda when they were first developed.

There is actually some significance to the number and layout of holes in the biscuit, but what that significance is has slipped my mind for the moment.

Tokolosh 09.06.2007 09:54 AM

I like Scottish shortbread or butterscotch biscuits. Walkers are nice.

that makes them sound much better than I had imagined.

I say that we all agree to just call them cookies and move on to discussing gravy.

The noble Bourbon is indeed a fine biscuit. Digestives are also great, chocolate covered or otherwise. But why has no-one mentioned Rich Tea biscuits? A basic biscuit yes, but surely the one whose taste improves by the largest factor post tea dunking?

jon boy 09.06.2007 12:07 PM

too fragile for my liking, at least in the dunking steakes. you can eat an entire packet and its still only like having one slise of bread or something.
