favorite Mudhoney album

bored and wishing those fucks would play the east coast more often

my fav is Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge, just a solid complete package

well it's not like i didn't know the way this was gonna go.....

Rob Instigator 09.14.2007 03:59 PM

i have EGBDF in 4 different vinyl formats.

regular, colored pink, colored "vomit color", and picture disc. I love that record, but my fave is superfuzz and early singles, by a hair

king_buzzo 09.14.2007 04:42 PM

piss of cake, fudge, cow, 5$

Everyneurotic 09.14.2007 10:45 PM

my favorite is kick out the jams.

seriously, isn't everyone going to vote for superfuzz? technically, that can't be their best album, though.

the one with "suck you dry" is good too...

you know...if you put march to fuzz, i'd vote for that one.

nick2767 09.15.2007 01:57 AM

superfuzz, no contest.

agreed.

h8kurdt 09.15.2007 03:05 AM

Wow surprised that someone chose Tomorrow hit today. It's a great album thas's for sure. Just to waste time i'll do a best to worst list.

EGBDF
Tomorrow Hit Today
Mudhoney
Since We've Become Translucent
Superfuzz Bigmuff
Piece of Cake
Under A Billion Suns

king_buzzo 09.15.2007 03:13 AM

i never got into UABS.

h8kurdt 09.15.2007 03:30 AM

Me too. I really like the first song and hard on for war then that's pretty much it. It was because of that album I didn't go and see them on their last tour. I did see them play superfuzz which was extremly cool.

king_buzzo 09.15.2007 03:36 AM

well, most of the stuff they played last tour wasnt on the last album, there were some songs, but most were the older once. Still, they kick ass live.

It was amazing when they played sonic infusion, i love that song.

h8kurdt 09.15.2007 03:58 AM

Really? I thought they'd just focused on the new album with In n' out of grace and Touch me I'm sick thrown in for good measure.

Sonic Infusion is just brilliant, especially when it kicks in with the echo one Mark's voice. Ooh goona out it on now.

Androol 09.15.2007 04:23 AM

aw cmon how is this even a contest. superfuzz is great but what the hell

pbradley 09.15.2007 04:28 AM

Superfuzz BigMuff plus Early Singles wins because of the Halloween cover. I actually prefer it to the original.

well i dont remember what they played, it was around a year ago, but they did play some other superfuzz songs like if i think.

yep sonic infusion is one of my favs.

king_buzzo 09.15.2007 05:13 AM

heh, I just got the mud out.

pbradley 09.15.2007 05:25 AM

To a picture of Bilinda?

ALIEN ANAL 09.15.2007 05:30 AM

whats mudhoneys new stuff like
wikipedia says its pretty mainstream rock stuff
is this true?
is it still mudhoney?

pbradley 09.15.2007 06:06 AM

Yeah, I remember reading that and thinking "what?" I have Under A Billion Suns and overall it isn't that big of a departure. There's still plent of sloppy fuzzy buzzing and the horns mentioned are done well. Arm's vocals haven't changed at all. I imagine some aging, supersensitive grunge rocker wrote that bit on wiki.

ALIEN ANAL 09.15.2007 06:09 AM

oh ok cool
yeh i couldnt imagine mudhoney sounding any differnet or sounding like nickelback :P
i might download it and see

pbradley 09.15.2007 06:19 AM

king_buzzo 09.15.2007 06:35 AM

i would vote for march to fuzz because you get their best songs without all the boring filler, at least disc 1.

This is true, and as much as I love the band (I was a huge Green River fan when I lived in Seattle, and I went to school with Steve Turner in Bellingham when he was between Green River and Mudhoney, and we're still friends) I can't say they've ever done a very good "album". They are at their best as a punk rock singles band, and they haven't tried particularly hard to be that since the early days. "Touch Me I'm Sick" is one of the best rock singles ever.

Aww man, the second disc of that best of is owner of two of a very select group of favorite covers ever-'Money will roll right in' and 'Revolution'.

For those who need the password, it's discosgrunge.blogspot.com

king_buzzo 09.16.2007 02:29 AM

^haha yeah i did, thats how i learnt about megarotic. too bad that you can only watch like 10 videos a day.

ZEROpumpkins 09.16.2007 06:01 AM

Haha, oh buzzo, will there ever be enough porn in the world for you?

jetengine 09.16.2007 09:35 AM

Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge is their least accomplished album, mainly because of the poor mixes and incredibly low fidelity. For me, 'Into The Drink' is the only truly memorable number off that album. It was somewhat disappointing, coming after Superfuzz Bigmuff, s/t and the Superfuzz Bigmuff/Early Singles compilation.

My Top Three Mud Albums: 1)Mudhoney, 2)Five Dollar Bob's Mock Cooter Stew and 3)Since We've become Translucent

The stand-out numbers: 'Touch Me I'm Sick', 'Get Into Yours', 'Make It Now' (either version), 'Blinding Sun', 'No Song III', 'What Moves The Heart' (probably the only number I've ever heard that owes its dynamics to Cream's version of Willie Dixon' 'Spoonful'), and 'Sonic Infusion' (love that synthetic little ending that burps and gargles its way into nothingness--reminds me of the electronic treatments on the soundtracks to early to mid '70s films like 'Klute', 'The Anderson Tapes', etc.).

jon boy 09.16.2007 09:37 AM

superfuzz with piece of cake coming a close second.

i said it mainly because i only have disc one and can't really comment on the quality of disc 2.

i'm not a big fan of their cover of "hate the police" though.

sun city girl 09.17.2007 03:03 AM

superfuzz bigmuff, followed by every good boy deserves fudge.

Androol 09.17.2007 05:15 AM

fucking hell this turned into a slaughter

Pfft yeah that sucks big balls and I never got why people love it so much. Weirdos they are.

dazedcola 09.18.2007 12:06 PM

Superfuzz BigMuff is of course a classic and EGBDF is great too. but what about My Brother The Cow ? Thats the best record they released in the 90s and its hardly ever talked about. Its got that great stooges homage "1995" an attack on courtney love "into yer schtick". This record has some of their best writen songs "generational spokesmodel", "fearless doctor killers" and "judgement rage, retribution and thyme".Get this record if you havent already !

charles eugene 09.18.2007 04:36 PM

i cant really say, i chose egbdf but evey album has a certain sound i love about it.
