![]() in the US, not mentioned above Los Angeles Seattle Memphis San Francisco/Oakland Chicago |

ohh yes, have you heard Movus? and of course there must be Descartes |

I also wanna check out Erotic City |
london's ok, but it's hardly in the same league as new york
|
leeds used to have a great diy scene but it became spoiled and cliquey and ruined. it does have a good improv scene but everyone lives in such close proximity its a bit annoying.
|
Bristol comes to mind, but that's largely based upon its past. I don't know whether or not there's much happening there now.
|
Oh, and Berlin. Shame on you, Jon Boy, for not mentioning Berlin.
EDIT - Also Cologne and Dusseldorf |
to be honest there is not a huge amount going on there. there is an ok improv type scene but otherwise its not that great. the techno has moved from cologne to berlin though.
|
We can't just throw in every city that has a music scene as a contender for greatest musical city. Bristol? Leeds? Even Manchester is a bit of a stretch, considering how the legendary hacienda club was a load of my arse.
New York City, no doubt. More listenable careers have been born there than anywhere else. |
Danny's right, New York hands down.
|
Montreal used to be pretty ace due to Constellation movement.
|
Liverpool should be in the list of also ran cities. But New York and maybe London (although NY would probably be the 'greatest' whatever the criteria)
|

A nod maybe, but most places are just one-scene towns. Historically maybe they are very important but New York City has given birth to many scenes; punk, hip hop, no wave, anti folk.. |

yeah, movus are awesome. have you heard piscis? dragón? sutra? mekedo airono (zapopan, i know, but neighboring city)? inspired by the clouds? marlento? descartes' album is amazing. by the way, where have you been? |
I wasn't kidding with Minneapolis.
Prince Suicide Commandos Replacements Husker Du Atmosphere Brother Ali Alexander East Gay Beast To Kill A Petty Bourgeoisie The Trashmen Morris Day & the Time Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Eyedea & Abilities ... The list goes on. MPLS might not have the biggest scene, but per capita, i think we've got the greatest amount of great bands. |
Quote:
of all of those only Mekedo Airono and Sutra, i will check it out the other bands myspace's, also you know Movus is going to play here in the city with A Colores? haha i had a computer crash and a lot of homework but, yes i'm back |
