Favorite Radiohead?

Poll On the Way.

Dead-Air 09.27.2007 02:04 AM

Hail to the Thief strikes me as the most fully realized album. Which might be why they sort of stopped there. I like Kid A a lot, but it's sort of an Enoesque sketch outline for Hail.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 09.27.2007 02:04 AM

Kid A

it changes from time to time
last month it was Hail To The Thief

SynthethicalY 09.27.2007 02:32 AM

The Bends really made it for me, I just love it, it is an amzing album.

_slavo_ 09.27.2007 03:00 AM

Kid A fo sho

the best thing Radiohead has ever done.

I actually played "In Limbo" this morning for my girlfriend who's sick and lying in bed. I'm not sure if she got the joke.

pbradley 09.27.2007 03:11 AM

... album?

pbradley 09.27.2007 03:31 AM

I don't see how Kid A is great and Amnesiac is bad. Since they were recorded at the same time and I listened to them at the same time, I really see them as two parts of one whole work. "Life In A Glasshouse" has got to be one of the best ending songs I've heard. But whatever.

I think I would've voted for the the live album if it was an option. But it isn't.

Thats part of the song plays everytime I log off my account on the computer. I feel it is appropriate. The Bends is my favourite Radiohead album though.

eatmychild 09.27.2007 04:46 AM

| was about to answer the poll then | realised that | can't decide.

Ok Computer obviously has some fucking amazing songs, but | think | prefer the ambience of Amnesiac and Kid A.

But also, Pablo Honey has some 'fucking amazing songs', "Blow Out" has got to be one of the best ending songs I've heard.

And it's impossible to disregard My Iron Lung ep, if only because of how good Permanent Daylight is.

Also I've heard some good songs from other Radiohead eps, but I don't know which songs are from which eps...so I can't really comment.

Washing Machine 09.27.2007 05:01 AM

Kid A has to be one of my favourite albums. How To Disappear Completely is quite simply the most beautiful and heartbreaking song ever written.

finding nobody 09.27.2007 06:28 AM

Kid A owns my soul. No doubt, the album made me interested in electronic music.

pbradley 09.27.2007 07:04 AM

Well since the last four Radiohead albums are so atmospherically and conceptually tight, it's difficult to find some off song (or several) that falters the album (something Sonic Youth often fall victim to but for understandable reasons).

Because of these, I have to go with the most poignant. This, for me, is OK Computer. Besides, "Lucky" is the best song they've written to date.

ZEROpumpkins 09.27.2007 07:47 AM

Yeah, people are often afraid to say OK computer because it is the most well known album, but there's nothing wrong with admitting it. It's probably their best album, but I prefer the Bends.

Ok Computer usually. Sometimes it's Kid A though. Ok Computer has my single favorite Radiohead song ever though, the wonder that is "Let Down". Such an incredible song.

gmku 09.27.2007 11:02 AM

The Bends is the only Radiohead I own.

GeneticKiss 09.27.2007 12:46 PM

I picked [i]The Bends/i] becuz it has some great guitar work (I vote "Just" for greatest non-SY guitar song of all time) and I'm a guitarist, but I would really pick The Bends, OK Computer, and Kid A as Radiohead's Trilogy of Greatness.

Can't wait for their next...Hail To The Thief was good, but I'd hate for that to be their swansong.

StevOK 09.27.2007 01:29 PM

The Bends > OK Computer > Kid A > Hail to the Thief > Pablo Honey > Amnesiac.

I love all of them.

Silent Dan Speaks 09.27.2007 09:46 PM

Amnesiac needs more love.

gmku 09.27.2007 09:47 PM

I'm listening to The Bends right now!

alyasa 09.27.2007 09:53 PM

It used to be OK Computer, I cried when I first heard Paranoid Android. But now, I can't get Amnesiac out of my head. Googly minoutaurs and grinning bears.

atsonicpark 09.27.2007 10:02 PM

I thought we already had this thread like 3 times

1. Kid A
2. Hail to the Thief
3. Amnesiac
4. The Bends
5. I Might Be Wrong Live
6. Com Lag
7. OK Computer
8. Pablo Honey

Everyneurotic 09.27.2007 10:32 PM

yeah, i thought i answered already...torn did the last thread...

anyhoo, ok computer for me because it's the perfect marriage of their songwriting skills and their experimental tendencies, and it's just so emotional, the lyrics kick ass, the arrangements are unfuckingbelievable (because they are pretty much pop but at the same time they are not your typical verse/chorus/verse). plus it's the one that got me into really liking the band and into LOVING them.

that said, most everything they've done is awesome.

and yeah, i have to add that my favorite remix of all time is four tet's version of "scatterbrain".

k-krack 09.27.2007 10:50 PM

The Bends sucks, guys! Stop fooling yrselves!!! There's like, three songs that don't suck.

My favourite is Hail to the Theif by far. Next is Kid A and Amnesiac (sometimes it's one, other times it's the other... I love the wicked textural experimentalism of Amnesiac, but a couple of ther songs on Kid A are just mindblowing (How to Disappear Completely, Idioteque... and both albums have some of the greatest enders in history). Next, OK Computer. And finally the Bends... which as I said, sucks. Haven't heard Pablo, but I hear it sucks.
I Might Be Wrong is a fucking excellent album, too. I want to see them live soooo bad... True Love Waits = me in the corner.

Everyneurotic 09.27.2007 10:53 PM

i love the bends, pretty much every song is amazing; can you tell me you can listen to fake plastic trees and say it sucks? just? street spirit? high and dry? bones? my iron lung? black star? planet telex? it's all great. just a little more normal then they came to be.

k-krack 09.27.2007 10:57 PM

You named the few I like (Just, Street Spirit, High + Dry, Black Star, Fake Plastic Trees), and as far as I remember, a couple I don't. I kind of oversimplified it. It's a moderately good album. Maybe like, 3/5 good. I just never listen to it anymore.
I much prefer they're less straight-up stuff.

Everyneurotic 09.27.2007 11:00 PM

well, that's different.

k-krack 09.27.2007 11:02 PM

hahaha I know, I just wasn't thinking too hard about ti when I wrote it down. You know how it goes, man.

Everyneurotic 09.27.2007 11:04 PM

yeah, i've done that too.

Back in the early days of the internets, the dial-up era to be specific, Googly Minotaur was my handle. In fact I still use it from time to time on sites that I have a history with.

alyasa 09.27.2007 11:54 PM

I have a friend who has the grinning bears tattooed on his chest. I think I wanna go to fujirock nxt yr with him...

I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that. Though I am interested about these three songs. IMO, the top 3 songs would have to be Fake Plastic Trees, High and Dry and Street Spirit. But that means you hate Planet Telex, Just, Black Star, The Bends etc :( I'm sorry that you feel that way about The Bends.

Silent Dan Speaks 09.28.2007 09:40 AM

I like The Bends, but I don't get why people think so highly of it. I think everything they did after it completely destroys it.

king_buzzo 09.28.2007 10:28 AM

no.

Since it is apparent that Kid A is the preferred album amongst us Gossip users (and for good reason), I found this documentary of Radiohead's Kid A era.
