Why do you hate Bright Eyes and especially Lifted? It's an epic album, especially the closing two tracks..

I don't know, maybe because of that Connor Oberst personna.

He's a countrified sadsack, yeah, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. He takes the piss out of himself in his songs anyway:

one of my favorites and my number one most autumnal record.
recorded in the dead of October (forty years ago)
and it sounds like it.

if i'm in the car, usually Mudhoney's Superfuzz Bigmuff or anything by the Misfits.

if it's nighttime, White Zombie's La Sexorcisto (seriously, it's like the best metal album ever made).

i've been listening to Sister a lot lately, too. great autumn album.
