WTF. . .
This school in Portland Maine is giving middle school girls confidential access to birth control pills.
Now, I'm all for easy confidential access to contraceptives. . . but I've got a big beef with birth control pills- it is a drug that screws with the women's hormones and doesn't prevent STDs. Condoms not pills! |
how does it screw with them ?
|
From my limited knowledge it makes some girls gain weight, reduces acne or increases boob size.
|
"increases boob size"
and that's a bad thing? |
"reduces acne"
My girlfriend used to have very inconsistent acne breakouts; she'd not have any zits for like 2 months and then she'd have all kinds of zits for like a week and then none for a week and then tons for a week and then none for a month, etc. So, her dermatologist suggested she go on birth control pills at 16, because he said that she had something wrong with her hormones (perhaps an imbalance? I'm not sure) and it would help regulate her hormones/cycles. Of course, her super"Christian" mom was like, "NO NO MY DAUGHTER AINT' TAKIN BIRTH CONTROL NO WAY NOPE NO WAY." I really wish she had, at some point, been on birth control, because while her acne cleared up (after fucking experimental chemical washes or some shit for like 6 months?!), she still ... well, it's kinda like her breakouts were. She'll act FUCKING INSANE for like a week, then completely normal and calm for a few weeks and then THE CRAZIEST MOST HATEFUL SADDEST MEANEST PERSON EVER for a week, etc. Perhaps a bit off topic, but I guess I'm gonna go on record and say that birth control pills have definitely helped more than they've hurt people, and some people need to be on them for various reasons (though, obviously, the decline in teenage pregnancies is definitely a plus!). I see nothing wrong with this. They're not FORCING the girls to take them, and the girls would get them some other way if they wanted them. Obviously, the hormoanal "screwing-up" may effect some girls negatively, but I'm willing to bet it will help a lot of girls too. Nothing wrong with this. Though, yeah, obviously, if you're a girl fucking some random dude, he should probably still wear a condom to prevent STD's. STD's in middle school.. Jesus. |

GOOD. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17751527/ http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...=moreheadlines If you think it's wrong for women and girls to have easy access to birth control then you have problems. |
Right. Spectral, we know you're trying to be sympathetic here, but really, it's probably for the best that girls can get this stuff easier and confidentially. It'll do more good than harm...

How old is middle school?
|
7-8th grade i belive
or maybe 6-7th |
Seems a little odd. Such are the times, however.

Anything that prevents unwanted pregnancies can't be a bad thing

11-13, Portland Maine is half an hour from my house. |
this was due to a rash of pregnancies in that middle school
that is way too young to be on the pill. developmentally ity is fucked up. they are still going through puberty full blast ad hormones in the pill wuill screw with them major. |
Forgot to say, I'm against it.
|
So rather than give sex education, the schools just give out the means to avoid pregnancy.
Society is so fucked up. |
sonicl that is AMERICA. They oppose it because it will loosen their morals.
|
They were talking about giving the kids The morning after pill as well.
|
Well, they should make them take a class about sex ed. This will help them how to protect themselves. I really can't understand why people oppose it.
|
They should be teaching kids at 12 how to put on condoms and be distributing them confidentially.
I'm not against easy access to contraceptives for kids. . . just against sucking pharmaceutical companies cocks and perpetuating the overmedication of the USA. You know the pill is also prescribed to non sexually active people to "regulate their hormones" or decrease the regularity of their periods. There is a lot to be said for being natural. And kids are fucking dumb. Most teenagers think if a girl is on birth control you don't need a condom, because none of them are worried about STDs, because they assume that their partners don't have them. I see the problem 2 years from now: "Portland Maine high school has an outbreak of HPV" |
middle school kids have neither the mental capacity nor the emotional capacity to handle sex and all the shit that comes with it. I cannot stand seeing fucking 13 year old girls with a baby, having pretty much ruined their life, which they brought on themselves, but fuck, they are KIDS and have no idea what any of their actions will result in. I am not fotr giving them birth control pills, a sthat will undoubtedly fuck up their endocrine system as they go through puberty. most pills stop the monthly period, and to have that happen due to large amounts of hormones in a body just starting or going through it's puberty is fucking sick.
|
it is also way too early to be taking COCK
|
That's when I started taking cocks. . .
|
Let's just teach abstinence and ignore all the teenagers getting pregnant.
What we don't see won't hurt us. |
I'd rather have pregant teens than teens with aids.
Pregancy isn't contagious. |
But AIDS is a gay person disease sent by God to punish them for their wikedness. Obviously.
|
teenagers getting pregnant is one thing, but kids in middle school? 6th to 8th grade? that is 11-13 years old. terrible.
everyone wants cock but no one wants the cock juice |
Man, I wish I had the skills to mack when I was in middle school.
I was too interested in Susie's poptart to have been interested in Susie's other poptart, if yah know what I mean. |
here's the thing...birth control pills can reduce the number of or completely stop a girl's menstrual cycle, which at that age, REALLY isn't healthy.
|
exactly prisstina
|
If I remember correctly the average age for the onset of menstruation in women in the 19th century was around 17 years old
Now it seems to be around 12 Could that be a factor in the increased sexual activity of girls at that age? |
ThePits I have heard it is due to the hormones added to milk that girls are getting their menstruation cycle much faster now.

That sucks, I know we have huge problems here with the water supply and oestrogen finding its way in, so if its in the water we drink its bound to be in the food chain Why do we have this mad desire to screw around with nature??? |
everything goes back to MONEY
but yes, many many young girls are starting puberty at age 11 or younger, due to too many hormones in the meat and milk they eat. so you end up with young girls who are physically able to bear a child and absolutely emotionaly UNABLE to deal with sex or pregnancy. |
Sad, sad.
|
I think that SEX EDUCATION and condoms are fine. Like other people said though, the pill can mess up the hormones and stuff. But young girls should still be allowed access, provided that their doctor has determined that it wouldn't drastically fuck anything up. I knew this one girl who had to go on BC because she has a condition where things were irregular and she was hairy and had brown spots or something. I forgot the name of it.

Nah, this is something only girls can get. And the hair is on their stomach an the sides of their face.
|
I wonder if I'd grow more facial hair if I stopped taking birth control.
