My favourite record of his is the one where he has lunch and talks about the food that he's eating while a jazz band plays in the background. It makes you feel like turning either anorexic or bulimic.

Did not G.G.Allin kill anybody?

Meek surely beats Spector in terms of eccentricity. Girl groups made to sing in his kitchen and sometimes threatened with a gun, amphetamine-fuelled electronic music, shooting his landlady and then himself. What a happy-clappy chap he was.

Savage Clone 11.12.2007 09:18 AM

I've tried to avoid his name because he was crap.

I was expecting the indie comment, at one point, hence the 'erm' before his surname. How predictable.

jennthebenn 11.12.2007 10:21 AM

sarramkrop 11.12.2007 10:25 AM

A note about Bertrand Cantat.
He's the leader of French band Noir Désir (once shared the same producer as Girls Against Boys; appeared on videos with Jon Spencer Blues Explosio, t-shirt).
He bashed his girlfriend to death, one drunken night.
His girlfriend was an actress; he had came to visit her on the set of her next picture, directed by the actress's mother. He had quit his wife and kids.
He got an 8 years jail sentence that's been recently commuted. He spent 4 years and is now partially free.
A court decision now states that he's not allowed to talk, write, sing anything about what happened; he's not allowed to express his guilt. Would he have written a song called "sorry", I'm not sure. Still, considering how horrible the actress's mother became after the loss of her daughter, anything he writes will be scrutinized and twisted, his lyrics checked, double-checked.
The whole thing ain't pretty.
