MP3/Ipod shame anybody?

just read off the net today that 49% of people that own an MP3 player actually own an apple Ipod of some kind but i want to know....

what is the one track/album on your mp3 player that really makes you cringe, the one that would freak out your friends if they saw it?. maybe your friend put it on or maybe you did but never got to take it off... yet (<- cuz thats a valid excuse!)

i admit to having Keane on mine... the shame....THE SHAME!!

ok i have Coldplay also now fuck off and tell me some of yours...

Glice 05.12.2006 10:56 AM

Ah, excellent topic. I don't have a MP3 player, but I often find that someone's most embarassing song tells you a lot about them. I remember a party where I asked this girl to put on the most embarassing record in her collection on (having suffered nothing but god awful ambient shite all evening) and she pulled out some outstanding throat singing, and all was forgiven.

My guilty pleasure would have to be Cradle of Filth, but I'm not embarassed about that in the slightest.

!@#$%! 05.12.2006 11:02 AM

i think i have some rosemary clooney-- mambo italiano-- somewhere. for peculiar reasons. i have all sorts of strange tracks. all in a big computer though, i refuse ipods. my friends can kiss my ass, however.

Savage Clone 05.12.2006 11:06 AM

Iain's music.

johnnywinternoshow 05.12.2006 11:11 AM

i refuse to get an ipod. you got to keep those things in a velvet room and pick it up with a velvet glove to not get scratches on them.

the only thing on mine that i'd be embarassed about would be musical youth - pass the dutchie. I used to have some pato banton on there too but it annoyed me too much

Although I match these criteria, my velvet room ain't for music. It's for lovin'.

ohh lovely, its like the lyrics to some Bon Jovi song...
"i wanna lay you down in a velvet room.. sweet lovin on the crushed velvet walls..and the bottle of vodka still lodged in my hand.."
Glice, sometimes you say the most lovelyest things..

nicfit 05.12.2006 11:25 AM

fishmonkey,it's not bonjovi if you don't put somewhere : "FOREEEEEEEVEEEEEER!

johnnywinternoshow 05.12.2006 11:27 AM

I have an ipod but I have a different sort of shame which comes from being such a good little consumer to have spent money on what is essentially a conveniant filing system. I have to hand it to apple, they are good at projecting an image that fetishizes their product. Also. I feel like I don't actually have an album if I have it on mp3 only. I only have stuff on my ipod which I already own on record or cd. But still I feel like I am contributing to the watering down of culture. I mean, How much meaning can the art have to you if you don't bother yourself with the actual product of the artist, but rather with some digital ghost that is another barrier beteen you and the artists expression.

Inhuman 05.12.2006 11:38 AM

Madonna. A lot of people don't like her, but I think she's good.

Glice 05.12.2006 11:52 AM

Kill everyone who doesn't like Madonna. Seriously though, they're a plague on existence. If you can't enjoy Madonna (well, the immaculate collection at least, some of the album tracks are a bit ropey) then you can't enjoy life. Same statement goes for the Shaggs as well.

True 'nuff. I've got a few more posts until I reach my 'absurd rhetoric' limit for today, would be a shame not to use them.

... uh, I mean... Fuck you! Smell-face.

hah, i can totally handle the attacks as long as you don't commit cheese-blasphemy. :D

Glice 05.12.2006 12:29 PM

Surely no one would be foolish enough to attack cheese publicly? Surely no one is so heretical as to incur the God's ire?

krastian 05.12.2006 03:34 PM

No shame in Heart!!!

I don't really need an Ipod. My portable cd player that plays mp3's is plenty.

EMMAh 05.12.2006 03:39 PM

I don't have an mp3 player

3x1minus1 05.12.2006 04:00 PM

monster ballads. gwen stefani. britney spears (only "toxic" and remixes of same said song) ...erm. some game show themes and video game music.

also, my ipod never gets scratched because it's in a lovely clear plastic case.

I downloaded your link last night when i was at home on my own stoned and kinda drunk (all my housemates were gone to a wedding and i was solo) so i download it and break my arse laughing at it! i was real paraniod cuz i was in bits laughing and nobody was around, i was saying to myself "jerry snap out of it" i'd say the neighbours thought i was a madman

noumenal 05.13.2006 06:20 AM

There are few things funnier than little kids singing Float On. The guy singing along sounds like he could be a game show host or something.

"I backed my car into a cop car the other day. Yeah!" (WTF? Yeah!?)

I'm not ashamed of it by any means, but the music on my mp3 player that's most incongruent with the rest is Underworld. "Two Months Off" is one of my favorite songs. In case anyone wanted that random bit of trivia.

Empty rep for anyone who can dig Mr. Big and his ilk.

I found my copy of secondtoughest... and dubnobass... recently and was surprised to discover that they're not a bad as I had imagined. Thankyou for your random trivia.

alyasa 05.16.2006 09:12 AM

I don't know, Yngwie Malmsteen?

That deserves a contribution to the luminescence of your reputation.

I feel like such a kiss-ass.

*Edit: Nevermind. I am forbidden to double-dip. But the sentiment was there.

I keep noticing a spate of the same people amusing me. It's somewhat distressing. Because, of course, we all judge our worth as humans by the number of green whatsits next our name.

truncated 05.16.2006 09:24 AM

Then I have been robbed of all reason to live.

porkmarras 05.16.2006 09:27 AM

Nena - 99 ft baloon

truncated 05.16.2006 09:29 AM

Ooh, here's a bad one:

Summertime - The Sundays

Anyone who can't appreciate that song in the car on a sunny day is handicapped.

_slavo_ 05.16.2006 09:58 AM

I also belong to the crippled nation of Ipod users.

regarding the embarassing songs on it - it might be some hip-hop that I loaded just for the fun of it - Notorious B.I.G., or Nas or Common.

Well, after all, it's just a matter of opinion, isn't it?
