Let's all listen to the same album at exactly the same time!

If we all got together and did this, who knows how powerful we could be? We could even change the world!

One of us has to come up with a CD or LP everybody owns, then we have to agree on a start time to play the album.

We then talk about the experience.

5Against1 11.30.2007 12:44 PM

Let's all play the same Beatle's album backwards at the same time. It might speak to us and then there'd be hundreds of Charlie Mansons running around! Okay, so it's not such a good idea, I haven't had my coffee yet, that's all.

gmku 11.30.2007 12:51 PM

The White Album would be a good one to start with though. A lot of people own it. It would be interesting because some of us (the LP owners) would finish up later due to having to flip sides (unless we had it on a recorded tape).

Hmm... What do you think? The White Album?

█████████ 11.30.2007 01:02 PM

i'm starting to think you were serious about circle jerking in the past.

gmku 11.30.2007 01:04 PM

Okay. Stupid idea. I just thought...

█████████ 11.30.2007 01:08 PM

that quick answer just says it all...

EDIT: i'm just joking about the story you told the other day...

gmku 11.30.2007 01:15 PM

EDIT: And so I was the asshole. Apologies.

scott v 11.30.2007 01:26 PM

y'all are tards, get a life, posers/hipsters and fools.

Rob Instigator 11.30.2007 01:45 PM

I wil do it! I will rock th white album, 4 sides!!!

I don;t have it on white vinyl though./

records!

I am going to the record store at lunch!!!!!! yaya! fuck lunch!

gmku 11.30.2007 02:08 PM

Okay, Rob, what time are simultaneously coming
together with the White Album?

gmku 11.30.2007 02:14 PM

I just inherited two more copies of the white album, bringing my total to five LP copies. A friend is giving up her record collection, which basically consists of a few single Beatles LPs and the Beatles Collection box set. The box set is in MINT condition, and the white album has one of the best mastering jobs I've heard yet, aside from my German DMM white vinyl copy.

So besides early pressings of Abbey Road and Hey Jude, she also gave me a numbered copy Apple pressing of the White Album, with posters and pix in really nice shape. Even the cover isn't too bad. It's not an especially low number, higher in fact than my other numbered copies, and you can tell it's a later pressing because they started making the platters a little thinner in late in the run on those first pressings. Nevertheless, the sound is dynamite. She doesn't seem to have played it a lot, and the mastering is excellent.

So far though, I haven't heard an first pressing or reissue that beats my German DMM copy.

And only one of my white album copies doesn't have a poster. They all have the pix, though.

If you're playing a numbered copy, we'll have to compare numbers, too.

gmku 11.30.2007 02:16 PM

Okay, we gotta figure out a time. Maybe midnight tonight, Eastern time?

gualbert 11.30.2007 02:24 PM

At first , I thought it was a very weird idea , but the spirit of communion , that sounds nice !
Still , I'm opposed to anything by the Beatles ( maybe Sonic Youth instead ).

I could do it now if Rob can.

gmku 11.30.2007 02:39 PM

Okay, well, I'm saying midnight tonight, so check in, people, if you can do your white album then. That's midnight on the east coast.

k-krack 11.30.2007 03:52 PM

I dig this idea, but I ain't got the White Album. So if there ever is an album I have, I'm in!

Suggestions:
Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Mule Variations... etc?
Joy Division - either album
Velvet Underground + Nico
Big Black - Songs About Fucking

gmku 11.30.2007 04:31 PM

30th birthday present from an Air Force friend when I was stationed in Germany. The guy had terrible taste in music, so I about stroked out when he gave me this. One of the most tasteful and thoughtful gifts ever given to me on a birthday.

My friends and my wife seem to have conspired, because at that party I got gifts that definitely reflected a theme. White Album, beer glasses, blank tapes. Empty things, signifying an empty life?

Ah, but little could they imagine how I love that album.

Aw, well, you can have it, Rob, but it'll cost ya.

I'll be lucky to have a beer or two left in the house, let alone anything as sublime as weed. The cupboards are getting bare.

Greatful Dead- Live/Dead (or anything else by the dead)
Lee Ranaldo- Armarillo Ramp
Brian Jonestown Massacre- Thank God For Mental Illness
Jimi Hendrix- Electric Ladyland

So am I the only loser who never gets stoned anymore?

k-krack 11.30.2007 05:03 PM

I've never been stoned, man. I've tried a handful of times, but to no avail!

I'm in for Sunday, man.

finding nobody 11.30.2007 05:05 PM

Hardly

atsonicpark 11.30.2007 05:05 PM

I'd do super ae too...

Rob Instigator 11.30.2007 05:09 PM

I do not drink, nor partake in any other drugs, but I am a grown ass man and I love me some potent kind bud!

Rob Instigator 11.30.2007 05:10 PM

I do not have that neil young album! I got like 10 of them but not that one!

gmku 11.30.2007 05:15 PM

What from the lists so far do we have in common? For Sunday.

I have the Neil Young, A Love Supreme, Electric Ladyland, VU & Nico, those 2 Joy Division albums, and Songs about Fucking.

Rob Instigator 11.30.2007 05:21 PM

I have

John Coltrane- A Love Supreme
Lee Ranaldo- Armarillo Ramp
Jimi Hendrix- Electric Ladyland
Joy Division - either album
Velvet Underground + Nico
Big Black - Songs About Fucking

gmku 11.30.2007 05:29 PM

Okahy, well, weigh in, everybody, on Sunday night's album. For tonight, it's The Beatles (White Album), 12 midnight Eastern. Be there, or be a square!

StevOK 11.30.2007 06:03 PM

GAHH!! I listened to the White Album while smoking a bowl yesterday. I can't do it so soon again. I was planning on putting in Sgt. Peppers or Abbey Road on monday. Of the other albums mentioned, I have VU+Nico and Electric Ladyland (and Electric Laryland).

gmku 11.30.2007 06:43 PM

Well, we could always do another Beatles album. I'd do either of those. We could add them to the list.

k-krack 11.30.2007 07:15 PM

I have
John Coltrane- A Love Supreme
Joy Division - either album
Velvet Underground + Nico
Big Black - Songs About Fucking
(and everything else I mentioned, obviously)

Let's do Unknown Pleasures, because I have it on vinyl now!

gmku 11.30.2007 07:42 PM

Hey, I do, too! But not the new 180 release. I found an original issue a few weeks back in real nice shape.

So... Unknown Pleasures for Sunday at midnight? That's Sun/Mon. A cheery album to start the week!
