What's different about you this year?

Yeah, talk about your cliches. Self-reflection at the end of the year. I hate it. Still, it can be good to take inventory once in a while. And it can be fun to share.

Me:

1. I live in a different state.
2. I wear "man-lets."
3. I'm a freelance writer (it's my new full-time occupation).
4. I have more albums.

Let me know if you'd like me to elaborate on any of this.

val-holla-ing 12.02.2007 11:06 AM

what's a "man-let"?

1. i'm single.
2. i smoke.
3. i'm working on solo music.
4. i'm a morning person, now.
5. i dress better.
6. i take less shit from others.
7. i drink waaaay less.

Man-lets are my word for men's accessories, like hemp or thin leather bracelets. I just started wearing them this fall. They're a symbol of my independence from the corportate office world.

5. I also wear better though more casual clothes, meaning better jeans and nicer T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts basically. Plus I know own a corduroy blazer that's kind of rocking.
6. I'm trying to be calmer about everything.

2. I moved in with a girl for the first time in my life (related to point 1)

Solo gigs; re-discovering intelligence (believe it or not); being able to read again (was ruined by Finnegans Wake); the discovery that I'm an awesome writer (I'll plug the book when it's out); decent pay; good friends; getting back into drinking loads; smoking is still awesome; popjustice.com.

It's been a very good year in Glice world.

jennthebenn 12.02.2007 12:25 PM

i lost 35 pounds; i started my blog; i cut my goddamn hair; my age no longer begins with a "2"; i've had my first confrontation with the death of someone close to me (believe it or not; my father, died the day before my birthday), and this has made me demonstrably more focused in every aspect. it's also made me more empathetic.

also, i bought some different snoopy shirts.

val-holla-ing 12.02.2007 12:28 PM

snoopy's cool.

girlgun 12.02.2007 12:38 PM

oh and i hate my jobs 50% more

Phlegmscope 12.02.2007 02:23 PM
