LOAD Records
I love Load records.
What are your favorite Load roster bands (besides Lightning Bolt, everyone knows theyre great allready) |
the Vampire Can't (Chris Corsano, Bill Nace Jessica Rylan) record rules!!!
|
mouthus, metalux, the hospitals, sightings, kites, vampire can't.
|
Exceptor, Hair Police, Mouthus, The Hospitals, Khanate, Kites, Prurient, USAISAMONSTER, and Vampire Kant are all the ones that I love. Haven't heard much of Yellow Swans, but apparently they're good. I'd go with Khanate or Hair Police if I had to choose an absolute favorite
|
didn't think of hair police, prurient (usually assosiate them w/ hospital prod.) and yellow swans.
|
Hmm.. honestly, I don't really care for this label much. There are some gems (I actually really do like that Vampire Can't disc) but most of the bands just don't do anything for me (and artists who I like some things by, like Prurient, seem to have discs on Load that aren't as good as some of their other stuff). Load to me is a poor man's Skin Graft.Just my opinion, I know everyone here loves Load, and I'm not going to bitch about them, because at least they're not Troubleman Unlimited or anything.. yuck... but they rarely release anything that gets me excited.
EDIT: To stay on topic, I will list my favorite load artists.. yellow swans, usaisamonster, hair police ("blow out your blood"-era) and lightning bolt. |
I have a soft spot for this label, yeah. My favorutes off it are definitely Pink&Brown, Coughs (I haven't heard the latest album though yet), Silver Daggers and Noxagt. All great.
|
i likes me some prurient
|
Metalux, Noxagt and Coughs for me.

yep, that's the way i feel about them. that vampire can't record is awesome, also coughs, usaisamonster, old noxagt, ovo, yellow swans, hair police, white mice, gang wizard, prurient, sword heaven... ...again, the bands rule, sometimes their albums on load not so much. |
coughs (essentially the best band on load ever, sadly deeply missed), silver daggers, usaisamonsteer, vampire cant (belt/cant), ovo, white mice, pink and brown, sightings, dom fernow, whatever.... load equals quality in the same way skingraft does....

wernt they troubleman unlimited? |
I love Load because theyre ballsy, they dont have one band who is anywhere near mainstream appealing, just loud as fuck noise, thrash, metal, punkish shit.
im pretty sure khanate is southern lord tho man. |
load usually don't tie bands down, so much of their roster release stuff on other labels too, usually the bulk of theirs discographies. i respect that of them.
examples: hair police (their label is gods of tundra, but have released major works on load and troubleman). khanate (load released things viral on vinyl). gang wizard (deathbomb arc mainly). prurient (hospital is dom's home but two of his biggest releases have been on load). mouthus. |
how could i not love load? everyneurotic knows why :)
for 2 years in a row the Yellow Swans' records on load have been in my top 3. although the new sightings album on load may be my #1 of 2007... its a contender for the best album of this decade.... but a lot can happen in 2 more years. |
...
|
yknow. ive missed the boat on yellow swans. it hasnt clicked with me yet.....

I haven't heard that new Sightings album, its that good huh? I like their previous Load album and first one, Absolutes was just ok to me it was just way to messy to listen too in a sorta bad Harry Pussy "Ride the Dove"-esque sorta way. |
..yeah, yellow swans fucking rule: great, varied recorded output; wonderful live shows; nice-ass, interesting dudes; lots of commas, colons, and semi-colons there.
|
i can only listen to previous Sightings albums one song at a time... too dense in the same way for the entire album. but when i would see them live i always wished for something not recorded all in the red. that is this album. a dream come true for me.

i had a dream a few weeks ago, i was with my dad and my dad was like , "i want you to meet some good old friends of mine", those friends, David Lee Roth and Andrew WK. Me and my dad then got to play a super set with Van Halen and WK. It was the coolest. Anyways, have u heard WK's metal band wirh the drummer from Obituary?. Its good stuff. |
yellow swans
USAISAMONSTER Hair Police the mighty bolt |
Sword Heaven

yes! |

He's a hero of mine. I get to see him next week!!!! |
i love sword heaven but entrance is pretty boring.
|

havent heard it yet but the shit they did on heavy tapes was pretty damn fine. |

That "Town Hag" track is pretty tremendous, but I can almost agree that the rest is underwhelming. But I also think that Sword Heaven is one of those bands that's so incredible live that they really oughta consider how to capture on their recordings more of the essence of what they do live. Now that I have seen them live, these records, tapes, and CDRs I have are all pretty much obsolete...save for their souvenir value. "Town Hag" is only one rare moment that they've recorded which has successfully conveyed their live power. |
