what guitar/bass/drumkit you play and own thread?

if not already one, post away..

I play a late 80's/early 90's electric blue ludwig kit. I use plain sticks not nylon.. I dont really like the sharpness I cant help but hear when I use nylon head sticks. It's my first real set of drums and its my baby. Its funny how people either love drums/percussion or hate it. I really liked being able to play whenever I wanted in my old house.. and encouraged to do so. It would be guitars and drums and whatever else in one of our bedrooms four+ times a week.

Now I'm living with non musos and my inspiration to sit down really lags. I've set it up after not having it for about 6 months, and I think I've sat down once in the last three weeks. : /

random.. some sticks I burnished for someone else who plays:

Cantankerous 01.28.2008 10:33 PM

usual bass - red fender jag purchased new about a month or so ago or sunburst 70s p-bass w/ tortoiseshell pickguard

usual elec. gtr - CBS era jaguar, aqua blue/green (i think it probably was like surf green, the colour probably hasn't changed that much)

acoustic gtr - some beat to hell one i found in a pawn shop that i laquered roses on it

Death & the Maiden 01.28.2008 10:38 PM

Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Alpine White, as well as my "experimental" guitar, a cheap Ashton Electric.

2000s Squier Tele Affinity series, blue with green pickguard with tons of writing and stickers.
2000s Squier Tele Custom (2 humbucker, like Tele Deluxe) Black on Black
1960s Teisco Del-ray WG-2L, sunburst
1970s? Antares Les Paul copy, natural wood finish

batreleaser 01.29.2008 12:50 AM

i got a mid 90's jazzmaster, a shitty ibanez, and a new jaguar (which i love), i usually use them all though in the course of a gig. and of course i have my hand me down trumpet that my grandfather gave me and im really starting to learn how to blow some weird noise out of that thing. ive been incorporating it into my band, so now im on guitar, vox, and trumpet.

1995 CIJ Jag Re-issue (Many of you have witnessed it's supreme hotness, and I will repost it once more)

Nice, I forgot about my kit. It's an old Pearl Export kit with an awesome Paiste 2002 Crash (with a cutaway bit).

i mostly play this shortscale strat copy i put together myself from various broken guitars and spare parts.

scott v 01.29.2008 10:03 AM

Fender Tele Custom '72 reissue (black)

Squire Jagmaster

Epiphone Dot

Westbury 200 series strat copy...
Supposedly made in the infamous Matsumoku guitar factory in Japan...can't find a pic on the net though at one point i did, i will take my own at somepoint... somewhat odd but interesting guitar with humbuckers that are superhot and loud and clean as hell, plus 2 additional switches to switch from humbucking to single coil and dual and single phasing er something like that, i've temporary strung it as a 4 string modified baritone thing similar to SY's drifter guitar on eric's trip but tuned differently.

I play cheap guitars. I am always afraid to buy an expensive one for fear of dropping it or scratching it or whatever - so prepare to be impressed:
Epiphone SG
Squire Telecaster
Knock off musicman bass - OLP maybe?
I have a pretty decent seagull s6 for an acoustic
and my favorite of all - a japanese les paul copy with no markings on it anywhere other than "made in japan". Nobody knows anything about it. It is perfect in every way, and I love it dearly. Purchased from an octogenarian in my old neighborhood when I was about 13 years old for 80 bucks.

Crap, I misspelled it. It is octogenarian and it is a person in their eighties. I must edit now.

I also have a japanese les paul copy by Maya from the 70's. I'm completely worthless when it comes to playing it, but the guitar itself isn't that bad from what I've heard.

Nice to see some more drummers around here!!

I have a 6 piece Pearl Session Series set

I also have a light blue Strat that I bought in 1995....I don't play it hardly ever, but I should.

I wish I could find out more about mine. I have had it into half a dozen different shops for new pickups, wiring, tuners, et cetera - but no one knows what it is. they all agree that it sounds wonderful and plays great, though, and it is my baby, I will have her always.

Torn Curtain 01.29.2008 03:47 PM

2005 CIJ Jazzmaster, with a few mods (AVRI pickups, Mustang bridge, buzz stop and copper shielding). I might put a US tremolo as the Japanese one isn't great.

I'd love to have an old teisco or hofner because they're pretty much the coolest looking guitars ever. I'd be gazing at the guitar instead of trying to play it.

Haha. Yeah, this is my second Peavey. Sure I would prefer a Marshall or a pre-CBS Fender Bandmaster/Super Reverb/etc., but for a tube amp under $500, the sound is kick ass.

Yeah... I'm a tube amp nerd, i.e. I've worked on tube amps before, so I'll never go back to solid state amps. Bleh.
