street art?

do you have any interesting where you live?

I dont have any photos but next time I'm out I'll take some. Melbourne is pretty awesome and styles vary depending on where you are. Brisbane is meant to be good too? but Ive never been.

I prefer stencil and more innovative art. But nice tags and can control is always welcome.

I stencil too and would love to chatter about that if anyone else does.

pics and city name pls?

edit / update Thought I'd post some random things I've been taking on my phone lately...

sarramkrop 01.29.2008 08:56 PM

There was an awesome cock drawn on the walls of the men's toilets of the pub I was in earlier on tonight. Somebody wrote 'Impressive' and a telephone number underneath it.

The valley is full of eccentrics. They all suck.

floatingslowly 01.29.2008 09:10 PM

I miss seeing tags like in LA.

some of those guys paint their name in some pretty extreme places.

Like the side of freeways? L.A. is funny, it is actually pretty nice, but traffic suck ass.

phoenix 01.29.2008 09:19 PM

some random melbourne stuff. I dont know how old this is since I can't seem to recognise any of this work at first glance... but melbourne street art is huge so thats not surprising really.

I have no idea who that belongs to I just googled.

Пятхъдесят Шест 01.29.2008 09:26 PM

Graffiti, albeit commercial, but old.

phoenix 01.29.2008 09:31 PM

phoenix 01.30.2008 09:27 PM

phoenix 01.30.2008 09:28 PM

Cantankerous 01.30.2008 09:32 PM

phoenix 01.30.2008 09:37 PM

I dont think Ive seen any photos that anyone has actually taken from their area though and that was kind of my point. Cos I could just google random images, and I do. Im more interested in styles in cities. le sigh.

Cantankerous 01.30.2008 09:40 PM

phoenix 01.30.2008 09:41 PM

Nothing here in my little town. I'd create some but I'm sure I'd then be arrested.

I took these a few months ago. This stuff faces the bike path I ride every day.

I'm really not a fan of sreet art these days. I think in most cases, if not all, graffiti or whatever you want to call it, can ruin a beautiful building and make a city/suburb look degenerative and derelict.

I used to see A. Charles work all over the city whe I was a kid. The Baby in different poses like one with a knife, one with a gun & the other with a hachet. It was awesome seeeing his work as a kid. I mainly saw his work up in the Bronx...

entitled to yr opinion.

but personally I really beleive it depends a lot on the area. And there are places where I live that would look so awful without the constant interaction they have with the community of artists who live in them. It makes my world feel alive, rather than.. concrete and commercial. We're surrounded by PAID art, shoved down our throats. I'd much rather see people expressing themselves in beautiful artistic ways in place of all of those advertising spaces.
