My ratatikins have a respiratory problem
 

They're chirping and clicking when they breath sometimes. I'm kind of freaked out because respiratory illness can become fatal pretty fast and I've just noticed this problem the night before last.
But, like the awesome pet owner I am I'll be bringing them to the vet tonight (I had to call like a million places before I got one who did check-ups on rats AND was actually available) My mom isn't too thrilled about having to spend money on pets that live about two years, she wanted me to just bring one to the vet and get medication for both. I don't think that's a good idea though and neither did the woman I talked to. It's going to be $66 per rat plus any medication they need and of course, the lovely taxes.
Anyways, hopefully my babies are okay and not about to die.

I really hope for you they're going well. I know very well how much love you can feel for pets, especially rats, rabbits, that kind of really cute animals...

I gave them some garlic which is supposed to be good for them but they wont eat it. I don't blame them, I wouldn't want to eat raw garlic either haha. And I love garlic.
Loving animals is what I do best haha, animals are far better than people in my books.

My first pet hampster coughed up blood and died on my birthday when I was about seven or eight years old.

I know eh? I called a bunch of places, and the price range for rat check ups seems to be between 50 and 75 dollars. My old vet charged $50 and even admitted he knew fuck all about rats. He only knows about dogs and cats I guess.
I think it's money well spent too, and I'm also not one who likes to go through pets like crazy. Last night I was really bummed out and just thinking about all the pets I've had in the past haha. Pets are totally worth the heart break though :D

One a day at the most, sometimes not even one a day. I know smoking out a window isn't foolproof, but at least I'm not hot boxing the room with cigarette smoke on a daily basis. Rats are prone to tumors and tumors tend to be cancerous, so I try extra hard not to expose them to cigarette smoke a lot. It's something I always felt guilty about when Mouse had a tumor, and it still bugs me now actually.
But, I'm cutting back to 3 smokes a day. I've had four today but the decision was only in the making today haha. It's a step to quitting and I'm broke so I can't even buy smokes that often. Might as well cut back now and quit for Trinidad and Tobago.

They have a mild respiratory infection. The vet guy was super nice and knew loads about rats, which was awesome. I learned a lot during the visit actually. He gave me some antibiotics that I have to give to each of them once every twelve hours. It's like a strawberry flavored liquid that I have to squirt in their mouths, but I think I'll be able to get them to lick it up.

I usually smoke more than that, and I've had six today now.
My lungs have been really hurting lately and it freaks me out. My friend's lung popped twice last year cause of his smoking. Scary shit, smoking isn't worth the trouble it causes. I figure if I cut back and quit for my trip, I'll quit for good after that.

i quit smoking cos it was irritating my tongue in a bad way, and i dont want mouth cancer. my great uncled died of it when his kids were little & i dont wanna go the same route.

They're not creepy, it's all in your head haha. They're loving and very clever. You'd honestly love them if you spend the day with one, or two ;)

Mortimer seems fine today but Ainsley is still chirping and wont even come out of his house to say hello to me. Mortimer went in there and tried to wrestle and he just kicked him out of the house and sat there looking at me. If he keeps getting worse and dies I'm going to fucking die. This medication better help :(

Good job :) I'm sorry to hear about your uncle though. That must have been really shitty for your family, especially his wife and kids. :(
My dad got mouth cancer when I was a baby, but I guess he got it removed or treated or whatever cause he's fine now. Although he should really quit smoking. He's a chain smoker, and it actually grosses me out quite a bit.
