Somewhat... it's just funny how there are all of these thread's for celebrities who died, even though people die every day, and for the most part, nobody cares...

Why does everybody gets so defensive and aggressive? All I'm saying is that if somebody is a celebrity, their death is more a tragedy to people than somebody who wasn't. Sure, Thurston inspired a lot of people, but Heath Ledger wasn't a huge inspiration. Granted, we all know who he is, so that's why we all would like to know, but when you see people crying on TV about him when they didn't know him any more personally than they did the old lady in the obituary, then it's just rediculous.

I think it's pretty ignorant to say that Heath Ledger was not inspirational to anyone. Maybe not to you.

Trust me, I'm not trying to defend him because I'm a fan. I didn't even see Brokeback Mountain.

So, when someone starts a thread entitled "My Mom Died Yesterday", would you tell them to shut up because no one knew there mom? And yes, I know that is stretching it...

It might seem ridiculous and completely unexpected that people mention a well-known person's death, but we discuss and crtique personal achievements by these people, so ultimately, we will be discussing the death of such people as well. It's unavoidable.

If Mrs. Elizabeth Bennet Rachel Drew had done something worth discussing, we might be arguing over the relevence of mentioning her death on the board, and you probably would have the same opinion, were she a "famous person".

The only celebrity death that made me cry was Charles Schulz in 2000
because when I was a young girl and just learning to read, Peanuts strip
collections were the first books I remember just devouring. From age 4 on,
Peanuts was huge in my life, from books to the paper to TV to toys. I never
met Schulz but his death (to me) was liking losing a sage uncle.

i cried when sid vicious died, even though i wasn't even alive then. but i think that's why i was crying when i came out of my mom.
