excercise...
this is kinda a dumb thread, but im just wondering what people like to do to stay fit and healthy? me, ive always been kinda thin and lean not from hitting the gym, which i do sometimes, but more or less because i have the attention span of ann add 5 year old being force fed ritalin and boundless energy. im just always moving, the only times i sit around are early in the morning and late at night, when im playing/listening to music, watching movies, reading, etc.. but for excercise, i like to run, bike, swim, row, skateboard, shoot hoops, play no rules tackle football (which i snapped my collarbone doing in november), and ive also just started taking tae kwon doe which is sorta neat learning what pressure points will hurt some big fratboy jock the most. i hate lifting weights though, despise it, pushups and shit work just as well. so yeah, dumb thread indeed, but if you wish to divulge your favorite methods of excerise, go right ahead...

i love love to lift weights. it's my favorite thing at the gym. i hate cardio, but i do it. i usually do the arc trainer which is similar to an ellipitical, but it burns way more fucking calories so i just gotta. i can burn like 900 calories in 45 minutes. that's burns FAR MORE cals than running.
|
I ride the exercise bike for 40-45 minutes 5 days a week. Not drinking 60 beers a week has really been working well for me too.
|
And It's Fucking Exercise People! Not Excercise.

i like to do push ups and crunches. i usually drink too much soda and eat bad, but i try to be a good vegetarian and eat heathly, but chips are so easy to find and open up, same with soda. i skateboard every so often and i want to buy a bike and go biking on a trail. i play basketball and tennis sometimes too.

I like walking and hiking. I don't do it enough. I attribute it to the woods near where I live being boring. The nearby state park is beautiful though. I wish I lived right next to it. I'd walk several miles a day and climb rocks and shit.

I know, right?! I'm thinking about painting and doing mixed media shit again....gotta do something new. I haven't really done much art in a long ass time. But yeah, the days of me being a drunk really need to end and will. I haven't bought a pack of cigarettes in a year though!!
Not to get all Dr. Phil or anything. PS - I have always hated push ups. |
i like push ups and i have weak arms. i can only do like 25 at a time and then i have to rest one minute and do another 20-25 and so on.
|
Also, playing drums at the power and speed of a thousand ninjas is great exercise as well.
|
been using weights for the arms, some abdominal exercises that have a lot of resistance for the midsection, and squats for the legs
not exactly balanced |
i know people on here are exercising to look like rollins

I play squash on Wednesday and go to gym to do some work out on Sundays. Been doing that since the beginning of this year and it made me feel much better. I still have beer belly though.

Sorry for the squeaky bed, and the loud banging then. |
Cant afford the gym , so i use an inherited collection of 90s workout videos . they're great !
getting back into the habit of doing crunches every day . when my belt starts to break out of its most comfortable notch as it does now and then , i gotta lay down the law . crunches cant help the recent balloon bloating ive been getting lately though......damn . i cant part with the beer , either :D |

I'm going to stay in a fashionably Sonic Youth obsessive form, and wonder what Kim's work-out regime is? Her arms are so "sculpted", but how?

I recommend a water-based mattress. 1980's, I know, but the sound of splashing waves and airy beach wind puts me right out. I'd sleep better. |
i bet by jerking thurston off all day. i don't know how her legs still look that amazing though.

Do we want to dissolve any illusion we have of her as a goddess? |

Well, we could continue with that "jerking-off" stae of mind. Sexual references have proven to never become old. |

It's been done. |

it's the truth i tell you, j mascis showed me pictures of thurston holding a deep wound record while kim was doing the duty. |
I walk my dog nearly every day. He loves it and so do I cause I like getting out and about on foot.
|
nowadays i do nothing rather than the casual quotidian exercise.
|
I walk and bend a lot.
|
I spend twenty minutes each week looking for my swimming trunks.

i think she does a pilates routine, as suggested in the punk rock aerobic book interview with Thurston, and she gave him a coupon to a class, in which he said something to the effect.... "it's unfair to her, she's got a super hot bod, and i'm a lumpen blob" |
Bike commuting year-round, repeated heavy lifting at work.
This has produced better results than the gym did for me. |
i landscape every summer too, that hardens my muscles better than anything. i love landscaping, you get 13 bucks an hr under the table, good excercise, tan, perfect summer job.
