oscars
i dont really give too shits about this cheesy sympathy vote award show, buttt, i just tuned in and daniel day lewis won for best actor, being that his is my all time favorite actor and arguably the best actor of our time, i just wana say im stoked he won it again. that is all.
|
Yes out of all of them, he was the best.
|
he's so dreamy
|
so basically you don't care, but you do.
i'm looking at it while posting crap on this board & reading the newspapers online. i'm glad bardem won because who else would have? and im sad cate blanchett got nothing cos i fucking love her. what a face... i'm shocked eastern promises first nod was for best actor. but anyway, often the shit wins. i'm rooting (not in the australian way) for no country for old men for best picture & the coens for directors. |
if juno wins best picture i'll have to kill myself
|
I am actually going for There Will Be Blood, fool.
|
- i don't know who's winning or won
- i don't care - daniel day lewis is indeed dreamy |

i've yet to see no coutnry for old men, but now i'm thinking i should
|
It is a good movie, but There Will Be Blood is the better one.
|
oh man oh man, it's coming
|

the ending is kinda too nihilistic for my tastes. But the villain is one scary dude. |
yessss

the best movie won.
|

rare, isn't it? when i look at stuff from previous years i often cringe. titanic? oh, barf. -- anyway, time to get off the tv and make dinner hurray!! btw that scene that was shown from the movie is about 1 mile from my house-- the desert sands motel on central avenue ha ha ha ![]() |

I can't say that I'm surprised the No Country won, but I do think There will be blood is the better film. Still, no one and I mean no one, has got anything on Daniel Day-Lewis. They should give him the Best Actor award every year, just for good measure.
|
I really think There Will Be Blood blows No Country for Old Men (which is still great) out of the water.
But it is the academy awards, and I never take those too seriously so I'm not too pissed. |
Was watching with my mother, during the best song catagory we went if any of the three songs from "Enchanment" wins over the one song from "Once", might as well call it a night. "No Country For Old Men" was the only one of the movies that I've seen, so its the only one I could root for. "There Will Be Blood" is probobly good/great, but is it great because of Daniel Day Lewis? There for, the best thing about the film was recognized.

my words exactly. i was posting here and my friend was keepng me posted about it (against my will) through msn, i did watch the coens get their two awards in a row. |
I thought There Will Be Blood was better than No Country For Old Men. Although both were awesome, There Will Be Blood was Kubrick good.
|
i suppose i should go see these films then, if they're winning oscars and you all seem to have a high opinion of them? i don't go to see movies very often.
|
2007 was a great year for movies. There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men, Eastern Promises. Juno was good too, but I feel odd lumping it in with those movies.
I still have to see Before the Devil Knows You're Dead |
juno took the piss too much. it was like when you're 13 and weird and being picked on and the only way to retalliate is to be a smartass.

I thought it was cute. Michael Cera needed to be in it more though. |
ellen page is adorable and she gave a good performance. i think i share a birthday with her.
|

me neither. |

I prefered There Will Be Blood to No Country, both were good, but I though There Will Be Blood had more depth, but was perhaps a bit too off beat for the Oscars. PT Anderson needs an Oscar. Coen bros. have had their share. |
they made the big lebowski for fucks sake! how can you beat that?
|
Quote:
Well put. TWBB reminded me a lot of 2001 with it's long patches with not speech. |
Quote:
The Big Lebowski is a comedy. No Country For Old Men isn't. No Country For Old Men has the scariest movie villain ever. Makes Hannibal Lecter look like a puppy. |
i'm aware that it's not a comedy and lebowski is. what i'm saying is that they can't outdo themselves.
|
I honestly didn't find Bardem that scary. He just walked about and killed people.
|
Quote:
That is what was scary. I was on the edge of my seat when he went into the trailer. |
Quote:
I just don't see it. I was honestly more frightened when Day-Lewis bitch slapped Paul Dano. |
Quote:
fargo blood simple o brother where art thou barton fink raising arizona miller's crossing not all of them are necessarily "better" than lebowski but ayayay they are such a trail of genius. even that cockbags movie, the ladykillers, had its moments, but basically it suffers from a case of the tom hanks (yuck) |
i stayed up till 6am so i caught it all.
i'm happy bardem won - he's one of my favourite actors of all time, especially in films like Before Night Falls. anyone know what he did in spanish to his mum? |
i actually gota give the academy props for awarding the best movies despite the brutal violence they usually cringe upon, Gangs of New York anyone?
