motivation

I have none right now.

can we make a motivation thread?

floatingslowly 03.06.2008 11:21 PM

Yr good enough, yr smart enough and gosh darnit people like you.

Style 03.06.2008 11:25 PM

what wonderful goal should we be motivating you towards?

phoenix 03.07.2008 01:27 AM

my study. keeping it together.

I'm studying because, I love the thing I study, and because I want to teach it and give people who are younger than me, the opportunities I had no idea existed, when I was lacking motivation, back then.

Though sometimes I just lose it. Often times really.

The work piles up, I dont want to take the 1.5 + hour journey on a particular day.. I leave things at home.. I forget to get things I need from the store, or wasnt able to.. I come home to a fucked up house that is messy and gross and BUNNY POOED EVERYWHERE and plates and clothing and general hoohaa that seems to call out to me to clean it up. I yell at my partner because he doesnt understand that I need to see trees /grass/ living things each day or else I get spastic and start crying for no good reason. This may be a psychological dysfunction Im aware, but if it works then why is it a big deal?
I have no friends (see thread from like a week ago)

.....

is it a sign of how ridiculously fragile I am, that the robot email you sent me like 3 years ago is still pinned to my wall at home and is massively heartwarming and motivating when I see it out of the blue after I've forgotten it even existed?

I miss my cat. I'd bring him over if he wasnt such a pussy. He'd totally run away from the bunny. I wish he'd eat him.

Sigh, I can only say, you are the only one that can motivate yourself.

davenotdead 03.07.2008 02:31 AM

what the hell? you lied to me? there was no motivation thread, so you had to make one... i looked all over the frickin first page of this forum for it. damnit

Sonic Youth 37 03.07.2008 02:34 AM

You have to keep studying and pursue your craft because that's what you're meant to do. You're meant to change how people view themselves and the world. You're meant to make a difference.

how do you say something so sympathetic to someone you dont know?

I think I've forgotten how to do that.

thank you

pbradley 03.07.2008 04:03 AM

I have a ten page paper due tomorrow and I'm procrastinating like FUCK. So same boat, yo.

Pookie 03.07.2008 05:43 AM

Straighten up and fly right.

pbradley 03.07.2008 06:17 AM

I hate the beginning of essays where I have to define shit and give accounts and fart around. Let me get to my thesis! Let me stab the lion in the heart!

Green_mind 03.07.2008 11:01 AM

It's hard to stay motivated, I envy the people who are more focused and get on with whatever they need to do. Nothing seems to work, accept being threatened with physical violence.

!@#$%! 03.07.2008 12:48 PM

sleep is good!

which email would that be? I was under the impression that ALL email I send out is robot email.

my name is floatingslowly, and I never change.

█████████ 03.07.2008 12:51 PM

i like your panties.

floatingslowly 03.07.2008 12:51 PM

thank you. would you like to feel what's inside? :o

█████████ 03.07.2008 12:56 PM

not yours, you avaricious fuck.

Kina 03.10.2008 12:31 AM

I know how you feel pheonix, I am having troubles with motivation, or maybe just believing in myself at the moment, see I studied design but liked more of the branding/advertising psychology side of things as opposed to the pixel-pushing aspect of things, which I was expected to do when I finished uni, just like all my friends did. So I'm finding it hard to find my place in the workplace and it's hard to find something right for me, and I have been considering of doing some further study for the last couple of years and have finally decided to do that

pbradley 03.10.2008 12:32 AM

Turning in that paper I wrote was excellent motivation to get pissed.

Glice 03.10.2008 01:12 PM

My top tip when lacking motivation - give yourself loads of things to do. I wasn't a very motivated student until I had things to do as well as Uni; whenever I've been unemployed, I did nothing. I've not got a great deal to be working on at the moment, but the cherishing of evenings means I get on with it. Eating well, sleeping well, getting fit - all of these will increase your motivation ten-fold, in spite of them all being slightly boring. Also, makes sure you designate some time to get spastic drunk. DO NOT SMOKE WEED. I have known no-one who can sustain a weed habit and be 'pro-active'. Some do for a while, but not for sustained periods (I'm talking years rather than months here).

Glice 03.10.2008 01:13 PM

My usual useless asinine service resumed presently.

█████████ 03.10.2008 01:18 PM

basicly, what glice is saying is that you should take speed.

Green_mind 03.10.2008 01:51 PM

Good advice Glice, I have a butt-tonne of work to get on with, left it all to the last minute again.

Kina 03.10.2008 04:10 PM

I second that getting enough sleep helps, I'm not sure if it was the nature of my degree or what, but the pattern seemed to be: Get design brief, do research, make first design sketches and think of initial concept, bring in to class, get told to keep making more sketches, rethink concept to be more (insert some random abstract word here that lecturer thinks of that day) or rethink it altogether, go back and rethink, do more research, rethink, more sketches, bring back to class with more directions to rethink/change for all the weeks up until the week before it is due, then the last week be up all hours making the model until it's ready for the presentation on the due date, come in to present model with half an hours sleep behind me, and having to grab a good presentation space in the studio with all the other frantic sleep-deprived class-mates also wanting the best place to present, put presentation boards and the model up, and have to present this to the group on how very wonderful my design and concept are while being totally sleep deprived and just wishing I was asleep let alone promoting my design and concept to the class. I don't know how I could've actually had sleep and still got good marks in my projects but I would have been much more motivated with something resembling a normal nights sleep

Im not very good at essay writing. I find it hard to say in 3,000 words what I feel should only take 1,000, and keep it interesting.
