Sonic Bracketology 2008
 

Hey guys, I set up a Yahoo league to post your brackets in. There are 5 million dollars in prizes and shit if you slay. You have to have them set before the games start on Friday. It only takes a few seconds to get your Yahoo id if you don't already have one. I can't remember who won last year, but I know I got smoked.

This year my alma mater, UMBC, have made the tournament for the first time in school history. I got excepted to Maryland, but chose UMBC because I knew a lot of people from my hometown there and Maryland is fucking HUGE. I def. regret not going there, but whatever. Anyway, we play fucking Georgetown.....have fun on the bus ride back to Baltimore, bitches!! I mean, shit, I was hoping they'd up playing a Winthrop, or Gonzaga, or somebody they have a chance in hell against.

I haven't been into the season as much as usual because the ACC is so down this year. At least Maryland isn't in there teasing me to pick them this year.


Gary better get it together. They haven't had a pure shooter since Juan Dixon. Mike Jones was ok, but not really that dependable.

It was an exciting one last year. At the end, myself and jenn were neck and neck and it went down to the championship game. She had slightly better picks overall except for the Terp choke, but I did well in the final four and fortuitously picked Florida to win it all.

I have my reservations about some of the upsets picked below (particularly the UCONN), but here's my bracket (for now)...

3 of my Final Four are the same as atari's.....and the championship.


I usually don't do this, but I made another bracket for shits and giggles in the Fans of UMBC league on Yahoo where I have them beating Georgetown and Gonzaga before getting beat by Wisconsin. Ha!!

i share only 1 of the final 4 with atari... the champs... haha... anyone not picking UNC to go all the way? I had reservations earlier in the year... but now that Lawson is back for sure, I don't see them getting beaten

I don't know, sure they have good players since they are UNC, but I'm not sure that their bench can really make a difference....from what I've seen. I know Kansas are supposed to be pretty deep.

they're not terribly deep its true... but their top 6 is really really good... Lawson, Ellington, Ginyard, Green, Thompson, and Hansbrough... there's too much strength/athleticism/speed/ability/experience in that group

Nope!! You have until the first game on Thursday to fill out your bracket...it's really easy to do and you can tinker with it until the first game starts. Just follow the link and type in the League Id and password when they ask for it.

The most intriguing games tommorrow, for me, are:

Georgia and Xavier - Will the Bulldogs continue their out of nowhere hot streak??

Kansas State and USC - Beasley vs. Mayo....who will step up?

George Mason and Notre Dame - The Irish have a decent team and George Mason have fried bigger fish than the Irish before...still taking Notre Dame, but it'd be cool to see George Mason make some noise again.

I'm in. But, unfortunately, I have to support my school, Tennessee, to win the show. It's not going to happen.

I have Tennessee going fairly deep.

I had faith in them until they dropped the game against Arkansas. And that after barely squeaking by SC.

I hadn't had a chance because I work so fucking much and I have to take out shit for one job pertaining to holidays. Well there are 2 "holidays" this week. And so I ran by my dads office to use his computer and to make him help me with teams outside big 12. He said "I'm working if you dont mind. Come back later and we'll do it" so I stomped off, ran by my office and ran home only to find it too late.

It'll be Texas vs Kansas. Really. And I'm going with Kansas and my boyfriend bill self and my bud sherron.

Too late to join, but downtown Omaha has been taken over by KU fans.

It is a nightmare.

I have Georgetown beating Kansas in the Elite 8. If they hit their 3's like they did in the Big East tournament, then they will beat Kansas, I think.

I have Texas getting beat by UCLA in the Final Four. If Love's back acts up, then Texas might have a chance against them.

They've already beaten them once. While they didn't 'smash' them, they won at UCLA.

Nebraska has two teams in the NIT. Hooray.

I don't know, maaaaan. They got smoked last year in the tournament (I think) and that was WITH Kevin Durant. UCLA have made the Final Four the last few years, so they have the experience and Love has been playing like a man possessed.


Playing in H-Town could really help the Longhorns though.
