I don't think there is anything wrong with feeling a bit better with positive rep and getting annoyed/ashamed of negative rep. All this "I don't give a fuck what you think" mentality feels contrived to me in a lot of situations and is said for the reasons exactly opposite to the sentiment.

I smile when someone compliments me in real life, so same here on Gossip. I either reflect on or ignore disses in real life, so same here on Gossip. I do care what people think of me to an extent. There's is nothing wrong with a sense of community or friendship.

Then again, this "my opinion" stuff on what is proper and what isn't annoys me, too. I would neg rep myself for doing something I don't like.
