Bad Brains- Build A Nation HOLY SHIT
This record was completely ignored when it came out, but you must check out. For any serious bad brains fans out there who wish they'd go back to that hardcore style from the eighties-- your prayers have been answered. The band have regained that intensity and whiplash tempos. Listening to it gives me that same rush from the old records. Everyone needs to give this a listen
![]() Take a little taste of the video below and kick yourself for not hearing it earlier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enbNKhz6bQo |
I agree.
This album kicked some serious ass. |
it is really awesome, and i had that same reaction you had ("holy shit!").
i don't think it's been ignored, it got covered by most media, although they gave it very unfair reviews, saying it's just ok instead of great. |
lil jon did a lil production on it, isnt that a lil funny?
|
you sure? as rad as this album is, i don't feel the crunkness it should have.
|
hmmm I avoided this but you're persuading me, and I'm working on a painting at the moment which seems to be becoming a lion not unlike the one on the cover??? weird, maybe it's a sign. by old school sounding are we talking rock for light or quickness?
|
he did stuff with them, maybe not omn the ablum but i know he did somewhere
|
|
coool, I will get it this weekend PAY DAY!

Um, Rob, "Natty Dreadlocks 'pon the Mountain Top" references Jesus Christ. It's one of the dub-inflected reggae numbers (there are two). Also noted in the song is, "Adam was the son of God," and the word "Jehovah." Just thought I'd let you know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25Wgp...eature=related I shouldn't have mentioned anything. Ha, let him buy it and then get mad. |
I know bad brains! I am nearly 35!
I don't care if a band sings about jesus, as long as it rocks doing so. |
The lyric is, "Let me tell ya, I and I love Jesus Christ."
There's plenty of balls to the wall thrash too; that's for certain. |

Actually Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys) did the production for this record. He used to see them a lot back when his band was hardcore and wanted to capture that same feeling live. I think he did a great job with this. |
lil jon did shit with them, but like i just said, im not positive if any of the stuff made it on the record.
|
bad brains remixed one of his songs. it's fucking awful.

did you know yauch and darryl jennifer had a side project called brooklyn? i think they only recorded a demo... |
Quote:
yeah they did. when the beastie boys were on hiatus after their def jam fiasco they recorded the demo. i wonder what it sounds like. |
Really? Is this album really that good? I love the Bad Brains, but I kinda avoided this record, thinking it wouldn't be that great. Dunno why, I guess I just had really low expectations. Now I will totally check it out.

i didn't know where to post this.
victory records are for once in a long long time doing something right and reissueing black dots on vinyl, it's available for pre-order in their site if you don't want to wait. |
Victory records are cocksuckers, but that is cool.
|
eh, there was a time when they were releasing cool stuff; like, 15 years ago.
|
haha such as...?
|
this album is pretty bad imo
i didn't think black dots was hard to find, i picked it up about a year ago new(on lp) |
Yeah, I heard the new Bad Brains was awful, so I didn't want to ruin my impression of the band by listening to it.

that one earth crisis album that was good, snapcase's design for automation, to name two. they also released the only ok hatebreed album, the only ok atreyu album; krastian and uhler surely know of other gems in their back catalog. --- i still think build a nation is fantastic, their best album since i against i. and well, you probably can't buy black dots online so i think that's good news. |
BAD BRAINS 4L!!! yea its tight, i love blaring Jah Love with the bass cranked the fuck up, its numbing
