Damn, this is the perfect choice for the curation this year. I just wish I could go see this in person.

I know, it's like a formality w/ their new albums. They go on tour through the fall & winter, work on the record, it leaks, then they release it. The same went for, A Senile Animal.

patton is a horrid artist, if you want to call him that.

however, he seems to have great taste and tons of friends who are actually talented. i doubt the lineup will suck.

not if its every fucking side project or something

i definitley dont think that patton is godawful, he does put together some great bands. his vocal noises are pretty much cheap imitations of eye, but i love his melodic vocals, like on "midlife crisis" off of "angel dust" (which is somehow an amazing record created by one of the shittiest bands ever).

jesu and unsane are the only bands on that list that are remotely interesting IMO

i used to love angel dust bt fnm but i never puked while dancing to them. i did snog someone once though.

anyway, atp has the capacity to be either a suprising and amazing lineup or just a total literal nightmare. i hope its the first.

Patton sucks a dick, but everyone he's associated with is incredible. Ipecac is an amazing label....

the only band in that list i'd be excited to see are melt banana, i saw unsane a few years ago and they were a bit of a let down. otherwise it just looks like it's going to be a weekend of prog hell.

i still think there will be a few suprises but instead of me having too many bands to choose from and deciding who i will have to miss i think that it will be more of a case of who i would want to avoid. not that i am going there anyway.

I'm not thrilled about this at all, but on the other hand I could picture these people ending up playing there that I like a lot:

Boredoms (Patton-Zorn link)
Merzbow (Patton has collaborated and played live with him)
Keiji Haino (He played with The Melvins last January at the Rotterdam Film Festival)
Slayer (Fantomas link with Patton)
Melt Banana (Patton link)

That would definitely get me interested, even though I've seen all of them before. But the biggest problem I see for now is that pretty much everything on Ipecac either sucks ass or is horribly boring... and I don't expect too much from The Melvins either.

But I'll just wait for the lineup before shooting this down or not. The Portishead one wasn't that bad in the end either.

I'd check out all them rocking motherfuckers!

I think Haino's gig was the loudest one that I've ever been to. Pure hell.

hehe, i meant that about the bands they may choose. but you were talking about them live, right? i remember you said they were disappointing at the donau festival...

i've actually seen them 5 times, even though i'm not a fan. the first 3 times i wasn't impressed much, but the last two times (at the rotterdam film festival) they played a live sountrack to films by cameron jamie and i really enjoyed those. the first night it was the melvins, the second night keiji haino and then the third night keiji haino and the melvins played together and that is still my favourite show of 2008 so far.

damn right. ive seen slayer twice, one in 01 and once in 06, they still play like reign in blood just came out. and melt banana is jsut so ridiculously tight, like king crimson tight, while playing spazzed out nutso noise punk, truly controlled chaos.

i'm suprised at the hating in this thread...
i am really excited about this. will deffo be going and what not.

i saw fantomas/melvins at the forum last year (or the year before maybe, can't remember) it was amazing.

I'll probably go - bring on the scrumpy, vodka and endless junk food.
