blazing saddles
UNDERRATED!
|
You know, I don't know if it's really underrated. Everyone I know has at least heard of it, most people like it, and it got # 6 on American Film Istitute's 100 greatest comedies of all time list.
|
if it aint #1 it aint nothin
|
say something random dnainthedna
and make sure it includes an obscure reference to scorsese |

YES!
my favorite line, among tons of genius comedic lines in Blazing saddles is "Gentlemen! Gnetlemen! We must protect our phoney-baloney jobs!" |
What in the wide world of sports??

to this day I can watch this movie and still crack up royally when the rail line men get asked by the foreman to sing them a song, and they start in on cole porter all beautiful harmonies and shit and then they say
"No, I mean a REAL song" and start singing "camptown ladies" |
I say me and the boys go ridin' into town, a'whompin' and a'whuppin' every living thing within an inch of it's life.
|
God, Blazzin Saddles, underrated? How can it be when it's got such a huge following of fans that insist on quoting lines from it at any given occasion? It's quite funny the first time you watch it but that's about it. I honestly can't see what all the fuss is about. I'm the same with The Blues Brothers: another comedy 'classic' that seems to have gone right over my head I'm afraid. Maybe it's an American versus British sense of humour thing. But then you go and do something genius like create Seinfeld, and Curb, just to confuse us Brits even more. I'll always hate you for Scrubs though. God I loathe that show.

Blazing Saddles is a near perfect comedy. It works on just about every level. Same goes for Young Frankenstein.
|
and the original The Producers
|
That one too. I have trouble not falling in the floor during the first bit with Gene Wilder and then Kenneth Mars as a Nazi.
|
ive seen it
i dont remember much of it |
