Big Audio Dynamite
...were shit.
|
BAD were the equivalent of the bizArro PIL
in other words, major suck, for major losers. |
yah - I don't know what Mick was thinking.
It was bad beatbox, tons of samples, and absolutely no soul. |
First album was classic. Mick Jones is a nob. End of.
|
I really want to like Mick Jones, but hanging out with Carl Barat...ugh!
|
I saw Mick Jones in Notting Hill once. He looked like a crusty old tramp, I almost felt like giving him a kick up the arse.
|
Rich pop stars that look like tramps. That's something I find incredibly annoying.
|
their like an anglo version of phish, only even worse!
|
Quote:
No...no they're not. B.A.D. doesn't noodle. I dislike B.A.D. I loathe noodling. |
Quote:
dude, noodling is exactly what these dudes need! |
phish rules.

the underworld of mediocre jam-band music. its the dead all the way. big-up Ratdog! big up Phil and Friends! Them keep it real in this age of imitation jamming |
there is no imitation
phish has maybe one or two songsthat sound like the dead. theuir fanbases collided and the hippy dead heads took over at phish shows, but before the demise of the dead they had their own thing going on. masterful musicians all, just playing american music. |

The Dead inspired generations of mediocre musicians to think that they could noodle their way to fortune. Unfortunately it worked for Phish's pocketbooks. If B.A.D. noodled...urgh - I hate to even imagine "The Bottom Line" being drawn out into a 20 minute wanna-be jam. As much as I hate to admit it, The Dead's noodling had inspiration. They were there first and knew their stuff. I still hate noodling, though. |
I actually don't mind Phish and the like (me thinking of Tool at t'moment) - and anyway, seeing as Phish were the inspiration (or even wrote) the "South Park" theme tune, what do they need to do to turn into twat-meisters (apart from jam with U2)???

I thought that was Primus. (who are just a wanna-be Contortions) |
I thought that was Primus

You owe me a beer. |
No I thought that was Primus.
|
You owe me a beer.
|
It was Primus. Arrgggghh!
I mean, come round to South London for a proper English pint, sir. |
I fucking hate Primus, don't you?
|
I really like E=MC2.
|
Quote:
Yup. But you know me demon - saying how good Henry Cow is and all that (who I still like...truly, I am the enemy of punk :o;)) |

I've never heard any Henry Cow. why would liking them make you the enemy of punk? Do they sound like Deacon Blue or something?
|
Not at all, dr666. I can't give you a better answer now, as I'm listening to Skullfloer's "Form Destroyer" now - my perfect 12" right here. Sorry senor.
|
I bought a BAD best of. Most of the songs are awful, but E=MC2 is great.
|
Quote:
You're kidding. |
Yeah, E=MC2 is a great song. But Medicine Show wasn't too bad either, or V 13. Their overall sound has dated horribly, but at least they were having a go. It's like they took the Sandinista album as their model and just went for it. It may not have all worked (as was the case with a good 60% of Sandinista), but their first album at least, I still believe, was a bit of a cracker. It had 'Bottom Line' on it ffs. Great tune.
The Phish comparison I don't understand at all. |
I actually quite liked BAD despite my childish opening post.
And I really like Mick Jones despite his seemingly desperate need to hang out with the latest Clash-a-like singer/band. All of the first four or five albums had good stuff on, particularly No. 10 Upping Street (worst album title since Combat Rock), which had some decent Strummer/Jones tunes (V. Thirteen for example). Never heard of Phish. Sound like twats. |
Just four dudes who play music.
|
Frizzle Fry redeems primus forever
|
is this the twat band thread?
big audio dynamite, phish, grateful dead, primus... |
Quote:
yes - now about The Hooters... |
i'm totally baffled as to how the grateful dead inspire such strong and shaply divided opinions in anyone, i just find them rather dull.
|
T&B yet again hits the nail on the head.
|
Quote:
Their fans inspire rabid hatred because they are so very very annoying. |
i'm not sure if they have any fans in the uk, apart from any visiting americans
|
the grateful dead represent everything that's wrong and twatty about hippies.
and yeah, quite dull. |
