Dr. Seuss
Man, Dr. Seuss rules. For years I knew just a bit about him. I had no books or anything. Last summer I bought 'Yertle the Turtle' and read if for days. It's great.
I rediscovered my love for all things Seussian when I went to Borders yesterday and sat in the children section reading the cardboard learning books. It sucks that I never had such books as a child (although I had that book about Elmer the Patchwork Elephant). What were your favorite books as a child? Or discuss Dr. Seuss. Whatever. |
Go, Dog. Go! isn't by Dr. Suess.

hop on pop
that one with the apples |

Haha, wow. My memory is shot then. It might've been one of the others. It was one of the small cardboard ones. I'll edit that out. |
There's a Wocket in My Pocket. That book is still bad-ass. Things like the "Ampade in the Lampshade" and stuff. Man was a genious.
|
I like the longer books.
The 500 hats of Bartholomew Cubbins was always my favorite. |
This was my favorite because I liked slime.

![]() My favorite Dr. Seuss. My older brother and I had like ten Suess books, with a Cat in the Hat book shelf, ah, my mommy often read this and many other DR. S books to my brother and I at night. |
Don't even get me started...
Dr. Seuss and I share the same birthday. That is my favorite fact about myself. |
I like the one about going to sleep. I remember when I was a little boy I loved looking at the Escheresque illustrations in it.

Jeremy Bulloch is and will be the only Boba Fett actor in my book! |

Hop on Pop....That book used to make me laugh and laugh. I also liked Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb. |
oh the places you'll go was incredible. also thumbs up for greem eggs and ham, and dr. seuss's abc's (the first book i ever read, when i was 2).
|
Then I went for some Ziffs. They're exactly like Zuffs,
But the Ziffs live on cliffs and the Zuffs live on bluffs. And, seeing how bluffs are exactly like cliffs, It's mighty hard telling the Zuffs from the Ziffs. But I know that the egg that I got from the bluffs, If it wasn't a Ziff's from the cliffs, was a Zuff's. Scrambled Eggs Super! |
I heard he hated children.

This thread is archaic.
The Cat in the Hat movie was shit. Not because of Mike Myers, mind you- everything else, including Dakota Fanning, got on my nerves. It was nice to see Mike try to put on a Lancashire accent. |

Couldn't resist a bump! That film was abysmal. Completely missed even the spirit of the book, but Myers was certainly better than that bloke who played the Grinch (can't remember his name right now). Hey, Danny Boy, I've got children. What's your excuse for watching it? |
dr. seuss is amazing and he shall always have a sentimental place in my heart. my childhood would have been rather different w/out seuss.
seuss for president! |
I like The Lorax. I haven't read a whole lot else though.

I have my inner children! |
As a child I was barely even aware of Dr. Seuss. Obviously he's much more popular in America.
It's only now that I've started reading his books to my daughter that I realise just how clever and often laugh-out-loud funny they are. Scrambled Eggs Super! is our current favourite. Quote:
Well I hope they enjoyed it. |
I bought my cousin some of the books for her 2nd birthday. I don't think she's read them. I think her parents have lost them by now anyway, the bastards.
![]() I am a great influence on kids. Here's me working out some killer awesome remote-controlled death tanks for my cousin. Small pieces, not suitable for toddlers! |

I bet you're his/her/their favourite cousin. |
I am.
|
I remember the fist book I read without assistance was Elephant has the Hiccups.
Dr. Suess wasn't a big part of my childhood reading sessions. Although I have read a couple of his books. |
i still have my dr. seuss books by my bed i can't part with.
