Garbage Pail Kids

I've recently bumped into these guys again

I can't remember how old I was when I started collecting them or even which series these belonged to.
I'm really thinking of trying to recollect them again or at least a small part of them. They're probably hard to get I can imagine.

If anyone has any of these GPK trading cards and wouldn't mind getting rid of them I'd happily buy them of your hands.

greedrex 06.22.2008 07:25 AM

hahahahahaha
hedda spreader... fucking disgusting

yeah mabey it is a mid life crisis at 30 :) why would it be any different from collecting old records? besides the music :)

pbradley 06.22.2008 08:35 AM

I was just joshin. I was just looking for a new Calvin & Hobbes background myself.

atsonicpark 06.22.2008 08:35 AM

yeah pretty cool.

I'm reminded that half of my adult life thus far has been trying to relive my childhood, that's why I ordered doug and rocko's modern life from missmyshows.com.. why I read a goosebumps book a few months ago.. while I still watch power rangers, ninja turtles, x-men animated series, etc...

greedrex 06.22.2008 09:00 AM

we have recnetly acquired the whole DVD set .
has anyone else evr heard of this?
too good to be true

radarmaker 06.22.2008 10:38 AM

Heard of it? Hell yeah - one of those seminal childhood series that never seemed to end or resolve any of the overall plot threads (cf. Dogtanian and the Muskahounds and the Dungeons & Dragon cartoon)

greedrex 06.22.2008 10:41 AM

the story actually ends....

floatingslowly 06.22.2008 10:47 AM

I made a killing off the first series back in the 80's.

I had bought almost every on at the grocery store and then sold
them a few months later for several hundred dollars (big money for me then).

No idea what all that crap would be worth today.

Yeah, apparently they all do, but I never met anyone who had seen the end of any of 'em until the DVD age...

Mysterious Cities of Gold? Yeah I remember that show. It used to be on Nickelodeon. I used to collect Garbage Pail Kids when I was 5 or 6. Mostly Series 2 and 3. I might have had some Series 1 cards too, but I got rid of all my cards about 20 years ago.

Nothing will ever beat Johnny Quest.

And Heathcliff!

Everyneurotic 06.22.2008 12:39 PM

heathcliff!!!! holy shit that's a surprise!!

garbage pail kids, hahahahahahaha; i never collected them, never thought they were all that but they were around...loved the rumour that they had lsd printed on it and if you scratched it you could get addicted.

Toilet & Bowels 06.23.2008 04:22 AM

All I remember of that is the theme tune: "Children of the suunnn/etc etc". Now if you want a truly screamingly gay cartoon, for me it's definitely this:

Which other cartoon has a character called "Fisto"?:

Why ? Because of Esteban's haircut ?

When I was 10, I wanted to fly that big golden condor...

Toilet & Bowels 06.23.2008 04:53 AM

he-man was miles better than cities of gold. he man might be gayer but he wasn't a continental ponce like that kid in cities of gold.

when i was about 5 or 6 i had a rock-on for evil lyn and the sorceress. especially evil lyn.

I was forced to suppress the hysterical laughter because there are people around that might think that I've finally lost it.

I cried instead.

Garbage Pail Kids were started by Art Spigelman, the underground comic artist who won a pulitze with his MAUS graphic novel.
I found that out a few years ago and it blew my mind. I first saw garbage pail kids on a road trip acation in the early-mid 80's and my and my brother bought them teverywhere we could the entir4e trip. they were so disturbing and wonderful.
anything that helps warp my mind was beautiful.

atsonicpark 06.23.2008 10:05 AM

if you went back and watched them now you'd realise they were actually all crap, and like all children you were easily duped.

Anyway, I wasn't allowed to have Garbage Pail Kids, because my mother thought they were vulgar.

acousticrock87 07.02.2008 02:36 PM

Aw fuck. I don't have any of my pogs anymore. Most depressing realization ever. What was that, first grade for me? 92-93 or something.

nicfit 07.02.2008 03:51 PM

BOGLINS!
