I know someone who entirely prefers Dio-era Sabbath. Thoroughly decent chap.

Makes you wonder, dunnit?

demonrail666 06.29.2008 06:54 PM

That person has a serious point. I might not ultimately agree with him but they're not being entirely ridiculous in arriving at such a conclusion.

his name is Tony Iommi!

Everyneurotic 06.29.2008 10:58 PM

"when there's lightniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! you know it always brings me dowououououn!!!"

my former lady friend absolutely adored solo dio and rainbow and said the best show she had ever attended was dio like two years ago.

demonrail666 06.30.2008 03:02 AM

He has certain cuntish qualities, but seeing him interviewed he strikes me as one of the most intelligent, and strangely humourous, men in Rock. Similar in some ways to Alice Cooper.

vulva 06.30.2008 03:25 AM

It's always good to see one of the munchkins from Oz getting work after the great depression they went through when the Wicked Witch was finally killed and they all lost meaining in their lives.

Onani Nic 06.30.2008 05:49 AM

Lady Evvviilll, Evil. She's A Mysterical Magical Woman!!!!!

Derek 06.30.2008 06:00 AM

HHHhHooOOoollllLyYYYy DdDddIiIiiIVvvVveEeEeRrRrrrrrr

sarramkrop 06.30.2008 06:02 AM

Let's face it, he's a bit of a twat.

Derek 06.30.2008 06:29 AM

An awesome twat.

demonrail666 06.30.2008 07:07 AM

He is a twat, a cunt even, but he's fucking brilliant. I dunno. i just love him. I don't agree with hardly anything he says in this interview but you'd be hard pressed to find a more professional, polite and articulate man in Rock.

Anyway, I'm not sure what the thinking was behind sticking Louis Theroux in the video, but fuck it: it's Rainbow in the Dark.

pbradley 06.30.2008 07:12 AM

RIDE THE TYGA! You can see his stripes but you know he's clean.

Very good interview, he brings up some very good points.

demonrail666 06.30.2008 07:56 AM

Metal frontmen are awesome as people I think. there's obvious exceptions of course but people like Dio, Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson have a real professionalism and intelligence about them. I have nothing but total respect for them. I dunno. It's easy to take the piss out of them. They are over the top and absolute egomaniacs, but you always get the feeling that underneath everything they'd be the first to take the piss out of themselves. They certainly don't need some twat like Jack Black to do it for them. A lot of people in showbiz could learn quite a bit about conducting themselves in public by following the example set by the likes of Dio and Halford. Metal guitarists are, of course, quite the opposite. Irony free morons with the dignity of a crack whore.

Yeah, I wouldn't say i agreed with everything he said, but I'm just really impressed with how courteous he is towards the interviewer. I used to have an interview of his where some obvious fan-boys were asking him the most banal of questions but he answered them absolutely sincerely, without any sense of trying to be patronising. I just can't fault the man. I really can't.

tesla69 06.30.2008 10:17 AM

He's older than Mick Jagger.

Everyneurotic 06.30.2008 10:28 AM

we're the last in liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!!!

remember when he lost a finger in a "bizarre gardening accident" a few years ago?

dude, I just took a drink of something in order to spit it out in surprise!

demonrail666 06.30.2008 06:58 PM

Surprised in what way?

Pookie 06.30.2008 07:14 PM

In a spitting out your drink kind of way, I'm thinking.

yes, its all semantical banter, the internets only means of near human communication, if you can not make people laugh, you are not human, and so in this regard, I suppose that even dio is a human, because when I see him, I do laugh hysterically.

demonrail666 06.30.2008 08:07 PM

Laugh, cry, it's all good when it comes to Ronnie. The gentleman of heavy rock!

Brian May, my friend.
Brian May.

Either way, I still hate Dio.

demonrail666 06.30.2008 08:18 PM

LOL. Seriously, watch him in any interview. He's so fucking polite it puts us all to shame.

EDIT: Hey, have a look at the last page of the irrational fears thread. I think I found a pet for you.;)

I'll forgive the Dio hating because Brian May is a VERY good call.

MellySingsDoom 07.02.2008 07:26 PM

Has anyone actually heard this?:

demonrail666 07.02.2008 07:44 PM

I have a download of it. It's shit. Which is a shame considering the sheer brilliance of its cover.

Everyneurotic 07.02.2008 07:47 PM

never really cared to check out elf, myself.

Pookie 07.02.2008 07:52 PM

I think there was a Dio rack on a flexi disc I got with Sounds.

Never listened to it.

Everyneurotic 07.02.2008 09:46 PM

dio's rack is not that impressive, he's like a 30-lower case a or something.

demonrail666 07.02.2008 09:51 PM

i've heard he's a 34b, but I don't particularly trust the person that told me.

Everyneurotic 07.02.2008 09:54 PM

it's probably a lillyput 34-b.

Cantankerous 07.02.2008 09:57 PM

i would say that he ruined black sabbath, but they were going to shit anyway. so i will say this: all hail dio.

Everyneurotic 07.02.2008 09:59 PM

rainbow it's where it's at.

the only band that fitted dio, and not because they were on the petite side of the store.
