what albums need to be reissued?
looking at the high prices of original issues, and if you're not looking for that collectors item so much as just a great listen
the first Neu! album (reissued in 01, but it looks out of print based on the prices i have seen) all the early Sun City Girls (Torch and Horse Cock especially) the first two Hanatarash albums (so jealous of Nefeli for finding a copy of Hanatarashi:p ) Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table by Nurse with Wound Half Gentlemen Not Beasts and Charmed Life by Half Japanese |
Electric Wizard - Supercoven EP
...is the one that pops up in my head immediately. |
Beck - A Western Harvest Field ...great mini-album that was limited and on 10" vinyl only.
|
Since I bumped the old Loop reissues thread, I was thinking that all the early Main records (including the Dry Stone Feed ep etc) should be reissued too, as well as all the albums by The Hair and Skin Trading Co.
|
Most of Unwound's catalogue.
Everything Luke Vibert has done Atomizer by Big Black AND PAVEMENT NEED TO FUCKIN' RE-ISSUE BRIGHTEN THE CORNERS IN DELUXE FORM:mad::mad: |
Also, I'd really like to see everything that an old band that used to be on Creation records and was called Sweet Jesus being reissued too.

rich man's 8 track tape? |

i saw this on display in hmv last week, they seemed to have plenty of copies |

Being as Beggars Banquet are taking an "it's our ball and you can't play with it" attitude to the Loop/Main/H&STC masters they currently possess, I wouldn't hold your breath on these being re-issued anytime soon, unfortunately. |
Quote:
intersting, for whatever reason everybody keeps the price real high online, like $40 upwards to $80 |
Skullflower - Xaman
All CD versions of this got "disc rot," and the OOP vinyl version had half as many tracks on it. |
Quote:
Yeah, all those Sun Dial records etc definitely deserve more attention too. Is the Beggars Banquet shop still in Putney where it used to be or it's closed now? |
That last Hair And Skin Trading Co album on Freek Records was insanely weird and Super Awesome. I would love to see that come out again in today's climate.

... in an edition of 1000 or so which is out of print. there's supposed to be a vinyl re-issue coming up on some german label i think, although there's some debate about it being legit or not. |
honestly, i could go on with this for days, so many of my favorite records took me forever to find, and most of my favorite artists' best records are very scarce. it sucks so bad that some of my favorite bands i own nothing but barious burned songs, bootlegs, and what not. cant complain though. i get it a shitton easier than my dad did when he was a music freak.

i didnt see that you had that nurse with wound there. my bad. you have great taste in tunes though. all those bands you mentioned are some of my favorites. kudos. |

Yes, the Beggars shop finally closed down a few years back, felled no doubt by the rise of internet shopping. Re. Skullflower's "Xaman" re-issue - I'd be very surprised if that ever gets re-issued, simply because Mr Shock stopped putting out records many moons ago, and has no desire at all to get back into the record-releasing business. The non-vinyl tracks are available on p2p sites like Soulseek, so get ye to looking for them. |

My copy of that is in pristine conditions (the cd is digipack). Then again I ripped it to files and listen to it on my pc or mp3 player only. Definitely a record that deserves more love. |

I think the masters are no longer in existence anyway. I got a decent rip of the non-vinyl tracks from one of the members of this very board a couple of years ago, which was nice, having not been able to play that CD for years. Incidentally, "Chance Meeting" was re-issued in about 1989 or 1990 as part of the "Psilotripitaka" box set of early NWW material. I believe all the CDs of this similarly got "disc rot" as well. Glad I bought the vinyl. I am also currently able to put the vinyl version of that box set into someone's hand via work, as I found one there. It's only the three LP version, and dos not include the fabulous "Ladies Home Tickler," which is a shame, but it's still pretty sweet. It won't be super-cheap, but it will be cheaper than the 4xLP version, and does include the art print insert... |

early AMM stuff is available from the matchless records website that fela record has been reissued as a two for one with He Miss Road that rallizes record gets reissued all the time but they keep changing the name |
Quote:
didn't know it was limited, i bought mine in a sale |
Hrvatski's OISSEUX also.
|
Quote:
much of his material was issued in a box set a few years back, but they are also available in single units as well |
Buy Contortions was reissued on vinyl not very long ago.
|
The first album by The Churchills, a beat/psychedelic band from Israel would be a nice reissue too. I managed to download it off some blog.
|
I wish that Captain & Tennille would rerelease Song of Joy.
man, Muskrat Love is the shit. but of course, nobody REALLY knows just how genius it is because of how fucking obscure C&T is. all the music I listen to is like that. obscure as fuck. |
I'm friends with a guy who is related to Tennille.
|
Another one is Lora Logic's ''Pedigree Charm''. I don't think it's been reissued.

On a Captain & Tenile note... did anyone hear The Dragons BFI album? I thought it was enjoyable.
|
Danny, I have the GOLDEN FEELINGS CD on Sonic Enemy. Limited to 2000 I think? Do you know?
|
Quote:
It is very rare. There were some illegal reissues of it in the 90s, I think, but Beck and/or Geffen stamped down on them. You couldn't hook me up, could you? |
Quote:
That's the version I speak of... It came out 99, or 2000 on Sonic Enemy and Beck sqashed it in meer weeks. I picked it up the day it came out! Was even on sale! ha. What did you have in mind? |
Quote:
A rapidshare or sharebee upload? Whatever's best for you. |
