Favorite Neil Young album
Ragged Glory for me. Love to hear Neil Young show the new guys that he invented grunge and can still kick ass at it.
Features that great Neil and Crazy Horse guitar crunch that is instantly identifiable. Over all a great album. |
everybody knows this is nowhere
cinnamon girl, everybody knows this is nowhere, down by the river, AND cowgirl in the sand? unbeatable. |
Yeah...it really was a hard choice for me.
Ragged Glory was also my first Neil album so that helps. But yeah, Everybody knows this is nowhere is probably tied with ragged glory for me... |
neil young is the shit. CSNY kicked ass too.
|
Hell yes.
Neil Young is one of the most interesting (musically) performers I can think of seeing as he stays fresh and you never know what he'll do next. Not to mention he's probably the best rockstar parent (no offense to Thurston and Kim but Neil really stepped upt o the plate with his disabled sons) |
On the Beach for me, but I could just as easily chosen Rust Never Sleeps or After the Goldrush. I even like most of his newer stuff.
|
out of the ones i own it's got to be everybody knows this is nowhere.
|
the best of neil young
|
HARVEST is a close 2nd. TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT is 3rd.
|
On The Beach
Runners up: Time Fades Away, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Tonight's The Night. |
I actually really liked TRANS also. Not being sarcastic.
|
I can't say I'm a huge fan of Neil, because I'm not, but On the Beach blows me away.

Blows you away how? You mean, like a hurricane? |
If the original Chrome Dreams had been released as in it's acetate form (basically side 2 of American Stars & Bars plus parts of Rust Never Sleeps & a couple of others), that'd be up there too.
|
AMERICAN STARS has its moments. I thought most of the "missing 6" were good.
|
I've only heard a handfull but I really enjoy "Mirrorball". It's more blues/rock with the electric guitars and all.
|
Mirrorball was the Pearl Jam collaboration. (If you didnt realize).
|
where's trans?
|
on the beach
dead man soundtrack is my real fave though |
Good call on DEAD MAN, batreleaser.
|
Sorry I didn't put trans.
I didn't think it was considered an essential by most. |
Neil Young will appear on a new episode of The Late Show with David Letterman tonight.
I suppose he'll do something from last year's Chrome Dreams II. Then again, who knows? At any rate, hope he does "Spirit Road" if it's CDII material. |

dead man is my favorite too then trans then on the beach. |

Chrome Dreams two was great. |
Neil was cool on the late show.
Dave let him talk about what he wanted to,and seemed genuinley interested. |
Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, out of the ones I own/know. I haven't got it, but I have heard it a million times over, and Live Rust is one of the most vicious, and one of the greatest live albums around. If not Thee. And I really love Harvest, it's fucking bizarre that you wouldn't list that one...?
|
Yeah that was a stupid error on my part... sorry XD
|
My Favorite Neil Young albums are Harvest, After the Gold Rush, Dead Man soundtrack & Weld (live).
|
Weld is thouroughly awesome, I just didn't think it was classic enough for the poll.
Yeah sorry about no harvest guys, weird brain fart on my part. Welcome to the board by the way. |
Sorry Savage Clone, I guess there's no Dead Man soundtrack option.
Suppose it's "one of the other ones" for you. |
I just listened to his Greatest Hits, and my favourite songs are Down By the River, Cinnamon Girl and Cowgirl in the Sand, so I went with Everybody Knows This is Nowhere.
|
I've never been able to find the Dead man soundtrack.
|
Tonight's the night
|
On The Beach wins every time.
Possibly has the greatest final couple of tracks on an album ever. |
Not necessarily his "best", but has a lot of good memories for me: "Arc/Weld".
|
|
tonight's the night got me into the man. i think its the most consistant album, i mean how could you not love "mellow my mind" and "tonight's the night"
on the beach has a handful of amazing tracks but motion pictures and the other long slow boring one at the end don't do it for me. and i love slow lyrical songs sometimes like desolution row and sad eyed lady of the lowlands |
After the Goldrush
|
Zuma (for Cortez the Killer!!!) and Dead Man Sdtrk...
|
WELD!
if that's allowed... |
