The Whitey Album appreciation thread
Recently when listening to the Whitey Album it dawned on me that it was nearly a perfect record. The sequencing is thrilling. I always seem to forget how much I love it as a whole. I'd kill to hear them make a proper Ciccone sequel. Imagine all the studio trickery they could f with nowadays?

yeah it rules. i like how its really experimental but at the same time kinda a reflection on pop culture. leave it to the youth i suppose.
i like the inside over too, with the punk chick with the cool hardcore decked out bed room. |
I always figured that was Susanne?
|
I wish it had a longer Children Of Satan track.
|
I KNOW! It's beautiful.
|
It does grow on you. I think Thurston is pretty good at rapping...
|
Its my least listened too SY album, along with Dirty and Washing Machine, but when I do listen to it I really enjoy it. And lets face it, MacBeth is the shit...
|
Macbeth is my fave thing on that album. I love it so fucking bad.
|
"Macbeth" is great. So is "Third Fig."

A WHITEY ALBUM "Don't Look Back" tour would F me up way more than the DAYDREAM one...

I used to think she likes Mob 47 , but i guess it's The Mob instead ... |
I'm pretty sure it Susanne.. because the picture below it J. Masic, so that would sorta make sense, y'know referencing the whole "Two Cool Rock Chicks" track.
I really believe that WHITEY deserved a Deluxe Edition reissue. I'm sure they did lots more experimenting in Wharton's studio! Plus there was "****" and the 7" versions of "Into the Groovey" and "Burnin' Up" and the Lucky Sperms tracks would've fit in there, etc. Man, I really should've been hired to spearhead a full-on deluxe reissue campaign for the band! |
it's kinda shitty, nonetheless, right?
|
It's one one of my favorites... with the exception of 'Me & Jill' and 'Two Cool Rock Chicks' which are good for a couple listens... but eventually lose value IMO.
'Macbeth', 'Into the Groovey' and the redone 'Making the Nature Scene' are probably three of my top SY/CY songs ever. |
I dont think "Me & Jill" loses anything... and I don't think it's shitty at all, greedrex.

i don't see how anyone enjoys it as a musical album, i just find it sort of amusing. |
That's why I started this thread, Derek. Years ago I thought the same thing, but have since realized that MUSICALLY it's rather awesome. It just took me a long time to feel that way.

its possibly the best novelty album ever released. macbeth rules as too does into the groovey but it is a novelty record, it is a tounge in cheek piss take, it is sy trying to record licence to ill... its funny, its good but it doesnt need or deserve a reunion tour, reduxing, follow up or anything..
oh yeah, it was remastered alright....... |

yeah at least it's not as bad as the Rolling Stones |

I guess it's silly but I've never been able to take this poem seriously... "We had just left shore when everything began to happen at once. The water came in and we started to go down." The situation can't be that life-threatening if they have just left shore... can't they just swim back? No? I've always taken poetry too literally and rarely seriously... I can't seem to enjoy it no matter how hard I try. |
um... "go down"... I'd always taken, not literally man.
