any Nurse With Wound fans here?

i'm doing a phone interview w/ Steven tonight, so if there's a burning question you've always wanted to know, post it (and maybe i'll ask it).

afterthefact 08.07.2008 01:00 PM

Hit up Bytor Peltor... I don't know too much about NWW except I do like his stuff, but BP made me a good comp of NWW so he might have some questions...

Savage Clone 08.07.2008 02:12 PM

How long have he and the family lived at Cooloorta, and how long has the process been in getting it to the amazing state of wonder that it is today?
So much hand-work and hunting/gathering materials! It's fantastic.

narlus 08.07.2008 02:24 PM

well i think they moved to Clare in '89, after Steven and his wife Diane got mugged in London in separate incidences about a week apart. if you haven't already, check out the edition of "The Eye" on www.brainwashed.com which features a vid of Steven at home. it's pretty neat.

thanks for the questions!

marleypumpkin 08.07.2008 02:27 PM

I've just recently got into this group, & have been impressed w/ what I've heard so far. As well as Current 93.

Florya 08.07.2008 04:17 PM

Where in Brighton is 'The Bear Den'?

Everyneurotic 08.07.2008 06:37 PM

ask him why he chose to start playing live lately and how has this experience been for him and if he would like to expand on their live set/show and how.

also, what does he think of bands/artists influenced by him.

Dead-Air 08.07.2008 07:48 PM

Congrats on the interview! I don't have any questions that the others haven't already nailed here, but I hope you give us a link to a stream once it's done!

█████████ 08.07.2008 10:26 PM

good luck with the interview.

ask him about his hat.

Cantankerous 08.07.2008 10:34 PM

ask him what he thinks of genesis porridge

narlus 08.30.2008 04:21 PM

part one is now available

Everyneurotic 08.30.2008 04:38 PM

nurse with wound

Dead-Air 09.07.2008 03:19 PM

Awesome interview and what a brilliant note to end on:

(Steven asks me to send him a physical copy of the transcript, as he doesn’t own a computer, and gives me his address, omitted)
STAPLETON: We don’t have any street names or numbers or post codes. Just address it to Steven Stapleton, Ireland and it will probably get to me.

We think of him (at least I did) as this established major name living fully in the digital world, and yet he really still is an outsider!

I nearly went to this performance - wish I'd got my ass into gear now:(

atsonicpark 04.15.2009 12:45 PM

bumped this because I'm curious about batreleaser's thoughts on this band.

........Personally, I have heard about 10 albums and they've all been pretty interesting but I haven't really loved any of them. Some cool little sound experiments but nothing has really struck me... yet.

batreleaser 04.15.2009 12:55 PM

yeah, like i said before, i have like 40 of his albums, and i really like some quite a bit, but hell never be a favorite of mine. i really respect him for the fact that he basically turned the post-krautorck jam noise into aful fledged genre, and there has been many greats bands like no neck blues band, dead c, etc.. to follow in that wake. I really like the first album, even though many seem to complain that its too noddly, but i really like the guitar wanking in that song, reminds me of a Guru Guru soul shredder. i like an akward pause, homotopy to marie, l'age dor, thunder perfect mind, and who i can turn to stereo most.

afterthefact 04.15.2009 02:33 PM

All I have is the mix you made me, BP. I did like it; I don't know why it's taken me so long to get anything else, really :)

I'm ever so surprised about your post above. You kids really have it easy these days, and I was merely born when their first album came out. I'd like to patronise you a bit, only if I could care that little more. Good luck working out what's 'noddly', 'this is the way we should play, and we will', and 'experimental' mean. Somehow I think you'll never get the point, hopefully one day you will.

batreleaser 04.15.2009 08:46 PM

what are you talking about sarramkrop? it sounds like old man hateful babble.

what i meant to say about nurse with wound, regarding my big nww collection, is that i buy his records out of habit simply because his records are some of the easiest "avant" records to find. like ive seen his shit in sam goody, obviously got it because theres nothing else to get. and downloading his stuff is even easier.

atsonicpark 04.16.2009 12:13 AM

I recognize the historical value of this band, the barriers they broke down, I was just curious what albums I should listen to, because they've all been pretty different, though they use a lot of the same tricks (a fun use of stereophonics and some woman moaning on nearly every song). I'll check out the ones you mentioned that I haven't already heard, bat. This seems like a band I should totally be in love with, and I want to be, and I'm just waiting to make it click.
