Do you actually like grits?
I tried some once and, fuck, it was disgusting. And this coming from someone who'll eat practically anything!
|
it depends on how they're made...they can be greatly different. cheese grits are better, but mostly i don't like them.

ha ha ha. think of a soft polenta. except that it isn't polenta, it's a type of processed corn that tastes yummy like dirt-- like mexican corn tortillas-- like posole-- hominy is posole. oh, it's hard to explain. this doesn't exist in europe i think. Quote:
oh, i wanna hear what the exceptions would be |

this thread is full of confusing terms and expressions.

here i found the compare of polenta & grits:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polenta#Similarity_with_North_and_South_American_f oods " Similarity with North and South American foods Polenta is very similar to corn grits, a common dish in the cuisine of the Southern United States, with the difference that grits are usually made from coarsely ground kernels. When properly cooked, grits and polenta have similarly smooth textures, "grit" referring to the texture of the dried corn before cooking. Another variation uses ground hominy, lye-treated corn kernels. Polenta is similar to boiled maize dishes of Mexico, where both maize and hominy originate. -- etc. however, i believe hominy grits is the real & tastier grits-- and it's nutritionally superior to mere ground corn (polenta). btw i had awesome polenta for dinner last night. it was only a small piece with tomato & basil & mushrooms so it didn't fatigue the taste. |
polenta is being well served in that russian chain - restaurants called "gulags"
