What is your earliest memory?

think way way back |
me driving my 3 wheeled (dunno what its called) in austria, I was 2 years old
|
Having an eerie Deja Vu moment at Dad Melly's flat - it sure confused the fuck out of me.
|
playing on the floor,2 yo or something.
|
When I turned 3
It was a baller ass party |
The day before my first day of primary school. I thought going to "big" school made you older and bigger, so I thought I would wake up the next day really tall. I didn't.

![]() Good times. My earliest memory is probably riding up front in the moving van when my parents moved house. I was about two then. |
i think mine is
sitting on the floor in a house that we had only very just moved into and there was no furniture anywhere and we were all eating hotdogs |
i can actually remember back to my first birthday, sticking my hand in the cake at my aunt's house

My earliest memories are illusive and clouded. Impressions without context. Sitting in a toddler chair as my mom took me with her in the old van we had. My brother getting a NES and my grandpa helping him set it up on the kitchen television (actually the only television we had at the time).
|
I do distinctly remember my fifth birthday. It was Dick Tracy themed. And I also remember New Year's Eve of '89 to '90 a few months after that.
|
my dad changing my diaper and I peed in his face.
Seriously. |
I can remember some bad nightmares I use to have when I was still sleeping in a little cot.

NO idea of the relationshio you had with your parents back then, but I doubt they'd let you fall over and over and AGAIN till your knees got all bloody...at least not at a really early age...am I wrong? |
I don't know. What I thought was my first memory turned out to be fake. My sister told me she had saved me from drowning at the pool, and I believed it and created false memories out of it.

i suppose that could be true, but i am pretty sure i remember my 1st b-day, i recall after putting my hand in the cake that i kinda "offered" it to my mom, but it's hard to say either way the next memory i have clearly that has a date, is my second birthday party, with a fire truck on the birthday cake and a kiddie pool i was wading in |
2.5 Sols//Huntington Beach, Ca: small landing party. they looked like Sleestaks. one was blue-green. they didn't want the red-headed neighbor kid. nice view from up here. ......[]....[]....[]....... ok, back in the sandbox.

always wished I could do origamis really fast and good. how nice that would be if you could drop them everywhere and leave these mystical messages |
I remember being born. No joke.
Maybe it's the acid I used to do. |
Sitting comfortably in my pram, staring at a golden sunset.
I must've been 2. |
Wow, I think I have no memories until 5 year old - I remember a little of the day I first got in school, so I was 5. Then I have a few flash memories... But I don't have a lot of memory actually. I can't even remember clearly things before I'm like 10 or whatever - and I'm only 17
|
I wouldn't worry too much about that now. The older you get, the easier it will be to recollect your childhood memories.
I'm having more trouble remembering last week, which isn't handy. |

cold, bright, it smelled weird. I could never keep my nose clean. I was one month late so perhaps it's because I was more developed than most babies. |
Being in a pushchair in Venice.

oh my god. do you still know where you are? :) |
This is interesting. It's hard to figure out what exactly is earliest.
But... I remember playing on the sidewalk around 2 or 3 outside our apartment on a sunny afternoon and becoming entranced by the distant sound of a plane in the sky. That same combination today--sound of a far off plane, sunny afternoon--has a strangely lulling effect on me. I also remember around 2 or 3 seeing the Christmas tree in our living room and having this oddly existential moment where I thought to myself, There is the tree, and here is me. It's there, I'm here. We're two different things. I stood for a long time staring at the tree thinking about this. |

when i was 9 months old, my dad left a can of coke out on the table and i went and guzzled it all down.
|
Was it coke, or Coke?
|
coca cola
|
Ah. But not Pepsi. That's good.
|
me standing in a pool at the beach. it was a natural pool made of rocks so the water was quiet. my nanny was there. i was probably 1.
|
My grandparents kept at least a couiple of cases of 7-up, the big green bottle ones, as they were bottled in the 1950s/1960s. One time , when I was about 5 and we visited, they thought they were being nice to me by allowing me to take however many I wanted to drink--my parents were unaware of their act of generosity. I drank and drank. On the way home I threw up all over the back seat of the family car.

this quote goes perfectly with the picture in your signature |
falling off a chair face-first and smashing into the floor.
|
I'm still working on remembering my face before my parents were born.

I have a lot of memories from early childhood, and I don't know which come first.
I'm going to guess and say the time where I was in my baby sitters dark bedroom, in a crib, screaming and crying for what seemed like forever. |
