Dead Meadow

Turn it on. Turn it up to 11 and they will rock you. THEY WILL ROCK YOU HARD.

johnnywinternoshow 05.31.2006 08:22 PM

seen them live twice, amazing both times and loud as fuck. Never experienced them stoned but i imagine that's how they intend their music to be listened

Alex's Trip 05.31.2006 08:23 PM

I discovered to them when I was browsing through Matador's site. I thought they were pretty cool.

kingcoffee 05.31.2006 08:29 PM

I listened to them after I heard that they were doing some shows w/ Dinosaur Jr, and let me say: Awesome! What a wonderful band!

Dan 05.31.2006 09:42 PM

Yeah, last time I saw them was a free outdoor show. Way sweet.

I found a copy of Feathers on vinyl at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square, and it was clearly used with ringwear and without any shrinkwrap just sitting with all the vinyl. No price tag or anything, so I brought it up to the counter and said it didn't have a price tag on it so they just told me it was like $22 or some shit. I said that it wasn't even shrinkwrapped and they told me that "most of the vinyl isn't" which is bullshit. I should've just taken it when I found it.

nomadicfollower 05.31.2006 09:48 PM

Haven't heard them, though they seem interesting:

set out to fuse their love of early 70's hard rock and 60’s psychedelia with their love of writers J.R.R. Tolkien and H.P. Lovecraft.

or horrible.

marleypumpkin 05.31.2006 10:06 PM

They are a great group, & a great show.

Everyneurotic 05.31.2006 10:18 PM

yes they are very good, very black sabbathy. the only one i have is feathers, which is good.

pantophobia 05.31.2006 10:31 PM

excellent band, saw them open for Sleater-Kinney last year, and they are opening for Blue Cheer on a few dates next month in the east, should be a happening show

marleypumpkin 05.31.2006 10:47 PM

I got to seem them open for Dinosaur Jr. last April in my favorite venue, The Orange Peel.
The bass player is absolutely amazing.

krastian 05.31.2006 11:22 PM

Yeah I like em'.....haven't seen them live though.

marleypumpkin 05.31.2006 11:27 PM

They really do a great, yet simple visual show. & the reason I say the bass player is amazing, is because I was right on his side of the stage, so I got to see his playing upclose.
Truly a great show.

ozZuB-ginK 06.01.2006 02:29 AM

i love dead meadow. I've been a fan of theirs for awhile since before feathers came out. I saw them too opening up for dinosaur jr in march, was a real treat to see 2 bands i love that night

marleypumpkin 06.01.2006 04:55 AM

Yeah, but Prisetess SUCKED! That was the only bad thing.

screamingskull 06.01.2006 06:49 AM

i saw them last monday, they were the support for Dinosaur Jr, they where pretty kool. i do agree that they would sound fantastic stoned!

marleypumpkin 06.01.2006 10:01 AM

^:
Fortunately, I've had that experience.

johnnywinternoshow 06.01.2006 02:13 PM

hey, screamingskull, there's a torrent of that show here
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=96898
there's no seeders but if you or anyone else wants it, i can get back on and reseed. It sounds fucking brilliant.

The dinosaur Jr set is on dimeadozen too

Tickerwelly 06.02.2006 05:52 AM

They make you feel stoned live even if you aren't. Easily one of the best shows I've ever seen.

youthoftomorrow 04.14.2007 08:17 PM

i bought the first record last weekend and it's awesome.

screamingskull 04.15.2007 11:53 AM

i went to see them AAAAGGGGGGEEEEEESSSSSSSSS ago, they were the support for someone, can't remember who????, they were good.

!@#$%! 04.15.2007 12:01 PM

they used to be on birdman records.

friends of mine did one of their videos.

if you like them maybe also check out the apes.

http://www.theapes.com/audio.html

no they are not the same but they are vaguely related. h aha. but no, look.

ricechex 05.06.2007 11:47 PM

I love FEathers, but not so much into the earlier 3 piece stuff. Feathers is light years ahead of anything else they've done, so this makes me curious as to how they got so fucking good on this this one. The production, the tones, the dynamics, the songs, the playing, the overall sound, are awesome. Cannot wait until they put out a new one

MellySingsDoom 05.07.2007 03:03 AM

"Feathers" is a fantastic CD, and they were awesome when I saw them last year supporting Black Mountain.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 05.07.2007 12:49 PM

saw them open for wolfmother
groovy band

sonic sphere 06.16.2008 08:28 AM

just got shivering kings & others and have to say i was well impressed

ricechex 06.16.2008 09:26 AM

Feather's has prob reached my favorite albums status. Glad u brought this up bc i need to find it.

GrungeMonkey 06.16.2008 10:17 AM

brilliant band, seen them twice, supporting dinosaur jr and just before the new record, old growth, came out - really brilliant live experience, its all thick fuzzy wah guitars and smoke and green lights and whoaaaa
feathers is my favourite album, though the instrumental "greensky greenlake", off their first album (i think) is a particularly amazing song.

musefreek 06.16.2008 10:35 AM

i got their first album on vinyl. bought it years and years ago. apparently it's like gold dust now.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 06.16.2008 12:15 PM

I really enjoy old growth, but haven't heard the one mentioned.
