The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Acme

I have no idea what I was thinking. Complete whim, that one.

noisereductions 08.21.2008 09:21 AM

I liked ORANGE and NOW I GOT WORRY... that's about it for JSBX.

al shabbray 08.21.2008 09:23 AM

dr alban - one love

nicfit 08.21.2008 09:24 AM

chris whitley - din of ecstasy

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 09:29 AM

...and you will know us by the trail of dead "source tags and codes".

It's pretty good, but it's probably the worst CD I own and I don't really like them enough to own their CD's (it was only like $12 but still). It has to win some kind of award for some of the worst drumming I've ever heard. Anyway, I never listen to it, though the first two songs on it are pretty cool. Just a really meh band.

I used to have an Arab Strap CD, I got rid of that pretty damn quickly though!

Word. I own the Bends and OK Computer and Kid A and Amnesiac. Love the last two, find the first two pretty boring. I guess I should get rid of them.

Looking through my cd's now, I have Afghan Whigs - Gentleman, Echo and the Bunnymen - Songs to Learn and Sing, Scrawl - Thank You, My Bloody Valentine - Loveless, The Smiths - The Queen is Dead, Ned's Atomic Dustbin - God Fodder. Those cd's are all okay but probably aren't worth keeping.

That one surprises me. It's all about differences in taste I know, but still, I can't imagine anyone thinking that's anything other than a very good album.

I large percentage of my CDs fall into that "why" category. Top of that pile right now is probably Anti-Flag's A Benefit for Victims of Violent Crime album. Don't ask.

SuperCreep 08.21.2008 09:53 AM

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Even when I did like the Smashing Pumpkins, I never got the fuss about this one. I probably like five songs on the whole thing. It currently resides in a box full of my shameful CD's like Metallica, Kid Rock, Linkin Park, etc.

SuperCreep 08.21.2008 09:56 AM

Oh yeah, and some kid sold me an album by The Get Up Kids for $2 and he told me I'd love it. One of the most "bleh" CD's I've ever owned. I still hold onto it since I kinda like the artwork.

Nah, I said, it's alright, just not something I ever listen to. For the record, I love Louder than Bombs. Most Smiths cd's bore me though.

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 09:58 AM

Haha there's an anti-flag album I like, can't remember the name. It's a really cheesy album... it has this song called "Right On" on it...

"ANTI-FLAG? THAT DOESN'T MEAN 'ANTI THE AMERICAN FLAG DOES IT'? RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Haha.

king_buzzo 08.21.2008 09:59 AM

pixies - trompe le monde
sex pistols - never mind the bollocks

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 10:03 AM

Aw, Trompe Le Monde rules. Best Pixies album.

blunderbuss 08.21.2008 10:08 AM

Quite a lot of Thurston's improv stuff. For the sake of choosing just one I'll say The Voloptulist.

lechaoscestmoi 08.21.2008 10:12 AM

led zeppelin ii
london calling
psychocandy
the wall

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 10:15 AM

Yeah, all those albums suck. Good call, lechaos.

Cat Power - The Greatest

START DRINKING AGAIN CHAN!!

SYRFox 08.21.2008 10:34 AM

I have some albums I bought when I was younger, like three Foo Fighters albums, The Vines albums, The Datsuns albums, Jet's first album, that I would certainly not buy again; though, they have some good tracks so I don't sell them, even though I never listen to them. They're part of my musical construction after all...

MellySingsDoom 08.21.2008 10:44 AM

Pantera - "Far Beyond Driven" - bought it for its reputation, listened to it, went "ugh!", and filed it away. I still haven't got round to disposing of it yet.

It was one of those instances when you're in a record shop and you wanna buy a cd so bad but they have nothing you want. but you have to get something. So you end up getting a fuckin Anti-Flag cd.

Actually, saying that. I'm listening to it now and yes it is rubbish, but not that bad.

Oh hold on, they've started doing that vocal thing I hate. No, they are rubbish. End of.

Rob Instigator 08.21.2008 10:49 AM

Michael Johnson's solo album (bassist for dinosaur jr)

Yeah, I'm really conflicted on them. I sort of really respect them in a number of ways but I can't get their records at all. I'm like that with Metallica too.

MellySingsDoom 08.21.2008 10:52 AM

^^^Yeah, word up to the Dimebag (RIP), but their music is really a bit false metal to my ears. See also: that band which is fronted by Zakk Wylde.

schizophrenicroom 08.21.2008 10:53 AM

a bunch of ambient/electro cds i bought for a dollar each. most of them i've listened to once.

Oh yeah, them. Named after a biker gang or something. Utter tripe. The bloke looks like a camden hairdresser. 'Death to False Metal' I cry.

atsonicpark 08.21.2008 10:57 AM

Pantera have some good stuff and are pretty interesting. Not really worth the acclaim they recieve though.

YES!!

What was that album called? A New Kind of Army or something?

noisereductions 08.21.2008 11:08 AM

I like NEON BIBLE more than FUNERAL. Although "Windows" is a better song than anything on NEON.

thats the reason why I got a bunch of shit pressed to cd too. records are just like books, you never sell them and you never throw them away, they are documents of you and your development

Good call. Truth be told, all my albums -- no matter how bad they may be -- are in my iTunes, so that if I hit "party shuffle" I can walk down weird and awful nostalgic moments in my musical development.

demonrail666 08.21.2008 11:17 AM

The Distillers. Sing Sing Death House

Same story as with buying the Anti-Flag cd. Add my crush on the singer at the time that was evidently able to completely obliterate my ability to think rationally.
