last week i returned to smoking weed after a year's abstinence. needless to say, i got super stoned that first time, and i immediatley became obsessed with weed once again. i bought an ounce the next day and ive been smoking all day every since. every morning before classes, and all day after class. its gotten to the point where i feel truly insane. but in a good way. out of all the drugs ive used in my day, i am convinced that marijuana is still my favorite for one reason: with weed, you never know exactly what the high is going to be like, different strands make for different potencies and different effects. some weed will make you spaced out, some weed will make your body heavy and lazy, some will make you feel deep thinking and divine, some weed can get very paranoid and nervous feeling, and these days, with these super strong strands (northern lights, haze, pineapples express, hehe just kidding on that one) can even get hallucinogenic. the weed ive been smoking has been great for the pain experienced from my shoulder surgery, actually working better than the 5 mg oxys they gave me. i must say, that year off the ganja was well worth it, because now, well i got totally stoned all the time. last night i feel asleep listening to coltrane's 'ascension', and i could actually hear the music in my sleep, giving my dream an amazing mindblowing soundtrack. thats another thing, weed gives me the best sleep ever. man, i sound like a kid whos just discovred this stuff, because thats what i feel like, the 14 year old skater kid who just started getting into smoking weed and listening to black flag. brings me back to better, more simple times. so yeah, thats my ode to weed. share some weed stories/thoughts/reasons you love it.

Weed is fucking great.

I like to smoke weed and eat, walk around, sit around, go to sleep, look at things, read, paint, sew, learn, go driving ( I don't drive though), listen to music, play with my rats or dog, cook, take pictures...

The list goes on and on.

I should note that I've smoked weed hundreds of times but only once was it "chron" or whatever, and "chron" was great.

I always read batreleaser's posts. His posts reflect how his mind works I think. Which is a good thing. No need for spaces or rests.

My friend's dog likes getting stoned--gets a very relaxed look on his face. I've not smoked (enough?) around my dog to notice any changes.

Some dogs really like getting high, and when they smell it they go crazy for it.

My dog never seem interested, but I've never blown it in her face or anything.

I would never get a person high without them knowing, so I would never do t to a dog. I have way more respect for animals than humans.

your post reminded me why i was once a pothead in the first place. holy fuck, smoking while camping at the beach in that awesome sun & ocean & all, with what at a time were great, fun friends.

but then, glorious highs become routine addiction, desire becomes need and anxiety, and my life goes to shit while i sink on what's an increasingly blurrier dream that on occasion turns to nightmare.

so, hm, i reserve it for festivals like bacchanalia & so on.

but humans are animals, last i heard!

Ah, I've had some wonderful experiences involving driving, pot AND Sonic Youth! Or Thurston anyway--play 'Elegy' on an empty Alaskan highway. See the mountains slowly rise and fall... wonderful! Diamond Sea, all of Daydream Nation, Theresa's Soundworld/Drunken Butterfly--you name it

i like to listen to that rza song "so high" when i'm getting, well... so high. :)
i'm a huge fan of the ganja. it's good for everything. i don't think i could even have sex if i wasn't stoned. i fuck sober and i'm a 2 pump chump. i fuck when i've got some dro and a few drinks in me... i'm a fucking mandingo warrior w/ the stamina of a thousand 18 year old's! true story.

i have been doing the exact same thing
i havent stopped smoking for about 2 weeks now
every single day
and im stoned pretty much the whole weekend
i am loving it, i just sit around and come up with silly ideas, practice animation and doodle or watch a movie

it makes me feel so much more relaxed when walking around stores
dont feel so uptight

2 of my closest friends in the world are regular burners of the chalice. Having said that, being a grumpy 37 year old, I find the majority of potheads these days simply unbearable.

You get special dispensation :). Most other people that I've encountered who smoke the holy stuff are the worst kind of hippies. I'd rather take speed and/or acid, if I could...bear in mind that I'm talking about 30/40-somethings...people your age should be allowed to take what they goddamned want.

Cantankers - a good point. As I said elsewhere, weed is good to relax/chill out with, and to me that's it. The whole 30/40 something philosophising about it is a bore.

Tell you what, I've had some incredible bike rides stoned--large quantities of caffiene and THC (and, admittedly a lot of miles beforehand) and I can ride like I'm in the Tour de France.

I see pot as an amplifier--whatever you are feeling; you feel it more.

But I suppose it really does depend on what you are smoking. And alas, for most of you, the stuff I have is pretty darn good. Small batch, if you will.

there's no intellectualising it or turning it into some philosophical thing. weed is weed.
