recomend me my blood valentine album

to start with.

demonrail666 09.01.2008 04:49 PM

You're Living All over Me.

Pookie 09.01.2008 04:50 PM

The Best of...

mil_pl 09.01.2008 04:51 PM

^ din jr?

oh, they realesed only two albums..

SYRFox 09.01.2008 04:52 PM

Get both Isn't Anything and Loveless. They're very different but are two masterpieces.
Isn't Anything is more melodic, less blurry, and has really fantastic tunes
Loveless is about the atmosphere, and the general album feeling. It's like a cotton trip, you're flying in another dimension for 50 minutes

Cantankerous 09.01.2008 04:52 PM

SYRFox 09.01.2008 04:52 PM

And You're Living All Over Me is by far the best Dino Jr album imo

MellySingsDoom 09.01.2008 05:16 PM

A serious answer? Um....try "Ecstasy And Wine". Some boss tuneage on there.

Tis true, but I left my "Oscar Wilde witty repartee" answer book at work.

Damn.

The MBV/Poison comp album rocks. "Talk Dirty to Me When You Sleep" is their best song.

Everyneurotic 09.01.2008 09:27 PM

i'd totally buy that album, acoustic.

instructions for asking recomendations:

i like your joke thread.

acousticrock87 09.01.2008 09:30 PM

I think after Wikipedia, just go out and take a chance. Let fate decide if now is the time to start listening to _______.

PAULYBEE2656 09.02.2008 07:18 AM

ok, a serious answer to the question..

loveless- my favourite album of all time....

isnt anything.. awesome album

the 4 creation singles (realise / feed me / glider (both long and normal versions)/ tremelo) contain incredible tracks, some of mbvs best songs were bsides , see slow, cigarette in my bed, honeypower, etc....

ecstacy and wine- quite good but wait to hear the others first

this is your bloody valentine- only for the completists... its fairly muck, poor sisters of mercy/jamc goth thing... get it for posterity only...

atsonicpark 09.02.2008 08:20 AM

A serious one too, I guess.

www.markprindle.com

Go to "my bloody valentine" reviews. While he rates some of their albums a little higher than I would, I think he also clearly defines what he does and doesn't like about the albums pretty well.. in an entertaining way..

noisereductions 09.02.2008 08:34 AM

I'd like to be serious as well... get LOVELESS. If yr content, then just stop there. If yr still itching, check out ISNT ANYTHING.

If you really need more MBV, then continue on to the EP's and stuff, but save THIS IS YOUR BLOODY VALENTINE for absolute last purchase.

gmku 09.02.2008 09:41 AM

Loveless

and

Isn't Anything

Loveless is my favorite but Isn't Anything is also most awesome. Get them both, but if you can only buy one right now, get Loveless.

atsonicpark 09.02.2008 09:42 AM

Isn't Anything > Loveless by a huge margin.

gmku 09.02.2008 09:50 AM

Sometimes I think so. Other times I don't. To me, they're equally great, just different.

That is... I love both of them equally for different reasons.

mil_pl 09.02.2008 02:06 PM

thank you . i'll try lp's first, will see.

Glice 09.02.2008 02:46 PM

Has anyone heard Japancake's version of Loveless? I'm listening to it right now. It's a nice way to hear an album I really can't stand to listen to any more (over-playing records should be made illegal).

I'd say if you think in terms of "songs", then yes, Isn't Anything > Loveless.

But Loveless is RADICAL, as I said I think it's more about the whole atmosphere, it sounds like a cotton cloud. It's more "acheived". It has an incredible ambiance. You can get into it or not...

So I think they're both equally fantastic

acousticrock87 09.02.2008 02:57 PM

Parts of Loveless are like that, but I don't think it's as seamless as it's made out to be.

PAULYBEE2656 09.02.2008 03:24 PM

yes it is.. loveless is a near perfect album from start to finish.. nothing ever sounded like it before and nothing has sounded like it since..... as a complete product.. loveless is as perfect an album as you can get. thats my opinion, it has been my opinion for theb last 17 years and it will remain my opinion until i die...

my favourite album ever.........

i have gone into further detail about my love of this record on previous numerous threads so i am not going to again..

it seems to me age is a big point in the loving of loveless.. i was at that age,16/17 years old, the full on music buying coming of age. that is why it had such an impact on me because i can directly relate to it. i can see what a difference it made... most peole now think the new cribs album is groundbreaking!!!!!!!

king_buzzo 09.02.2008 03:50 PM

^my fav of all time too.

I dunno, I hated it. I don't most of think the songs on Loveless are really that strong to begin with, and without the layers of fuzzy guitars it sounded like... nothing.

Love the slide guitar parts. It was INTERESTING. But I personally didn't like it.

Glice 09.02.2008 04:27 PM

I think that's what I like about it. It kind of ekes out the psychedelic side of the record, and shows that the songs are a bit like Stereolab at their most 'ba de de ba de ba ba ba'.

atsonicpark 09.02.2008 04:28 PM

Yeah, don't get me wrong, it's interesting and cool that they did that. But when I listened to the record, I just felt that my slight enjoyment in certain parts was as a novelty and not because the songs were actually good.

exactly. i loved the slide guitar and the pedal steel. I love Soon, it shows how raw and awesome the song is without all the effects and the production.

Hahaha.

Yeah, I pooped.

Norma J 09.03.2008 02:44 AM

maybe I haven't given the Loveless album enough of a chance, but I don't get all the talk of it on here and in general.

Death & the Maiden 09.03.2008 02:47 AM

I have Isn't Anything, which I really like, but I still haven't bought Loveless. I don't have the money, and if I did, there are many albums which come before it in my list.

isn't anything is better.

atsonicpark 09.03.2008 02:50 AM

Yeah. I like albums that rock!

Norma J 09.03.2008 02:51 AM

I think I'd like it more if it was instrumental.
