unfortunately, like !@#$!!$!%!%!%!#!#$!#$1, I'm going to have turn off sigs until the throughput comes down.

Mine is like 180kb.

Even though I used to be on a 28k modem for most of my posting on this board, the signatures never bothered me. Now on DSL, they really never bother me. Hmm..

it's the moving .gifs that are the problem. even the small ones are near 1 MB. and yes... a user here has a 3 MB .gif in their sig. even cached it's just too much.

on my home system, it's a non-issue; but while at work and surfing by phone it makes it too painful.

The sig function is the single dumbest feature of the board (or really, any board that has this feature). I should think the options available in the avatar section on the left would be sufficient to express personality and to make oneself easily identifiable to those of us to lazy to read user names. I've had them turned off from day one, and whenever I've turned them on to get some reference someone makes to one I've generally come away with the conclusion that turning them off is still for the best.

Seeing the same giant picture over and over in a thread with a few active participants is annoying.

Never really cared or noticed myself. It takes, what, a NANOSECOND to scroll post a signature?

But hey if you don't like them, it's cool that you can turn em off. Still don't see the big deal at all. If I can browse this board just fine on a DIALUP modem then...

that's my point. the large file sizes have been slowing down / locking up my browsers.

I'm on the equivalent of a T1 connection, but there is just no reason for them to be as big as they are becomming.

text and .jpgs are a non-issue.

Funny how all the people who used to jump down my throat about posting sigs with fine artworks are now the same ones that have large sigs of stupid shit.

yr sigs were never a problem. in fact, I'd go so far to say that I enjoyed them.

I dunno, I just think only those with a shitty computer/connection should complain about this kind of stuff. Being able to turn off signatures makes this all a moot point anyway.

Though, in all honesty, a 3mb signature is kind of fucking ridiculous, regardless of anything I have to say. Who?!!?...

They only bother me if I have a whole bunch of things going on at once on my computer. Then they slow the loading down and what not.
