All jest aside, it is a -- neat? -- video. I mean, nothing AWESOME, sounds like me and my friends when we were 17 or 18. But knowing that it's Nirvana in the early years, even though I'm not their biggest fan, is kinda cool.

I thought the same thing when it came out. Just couldnt care. Then a couple of years ago I saw it used for $20 so I figured it'd be worth it to see the DVD. I then fell quickly in love with the box. Brought back memories of all the bootlegs I had of them in high school. I'd pay $20 for the song "Opinion" alone! So. Awesome.

I personally hated every aspect of the With the Lights Out box set (and Sliver: Best of the Box). Best part was the DVD.

Really? I think the disc that's heavily IN UTERO era is amazing. I dnt know man, gotta disagree. I like the set a ton.

I wish "Seasons In The Sun" had been included on one of the CD's, and not just the DVD. I think it's an awesome version. And weird that Kurt played drums.

I just wanted to say that because it perhaps reflects my tastes in general... so if someone were to read me saying "With the Lights Out sucks", then they'd understand that it comes from the perspective of someone who likes Marigold (which is one of their, um, not-Nirvana-sounding-at-all songs) the best. Or something.

It is a great song. All the b-sides from that era were pretty great.

the subject nirvana and kurt is still sensitive to me cause in my teenage days was my favourite band ( with sonic youth) and saw his concert a month before he kill himself, and his death closed the "teen page" of my life...
Anyway my fav. album was and still is "Bleach", the others albums have great songs but that one was the first i bought in vinyl and i still love his "pure noisy sound".

The best thing to come out of that lame BOX set, it was supposed to have the material from the last studio session but all we got was You Know Yr RIght!

Courtney, we already know that after Kurt's death, you had to loot his tapes and notebooks to get new songs for Hole albums, and we already expect to hear some supposed "Hole" tunes in the vaults of unreleased and not-so-professionally recorded material, and further, we dont care, we might just like to hear some of it though!

Thing about the box set is that there simply can't have been much else available to put on it, aside from that final session or borderline-unlistenable bedroom demos (which would be mana for diehard obsessives, but hardly the type of stuff that would see it flying off shelves). I bought it on release, but think I've only listened to it once or twice. Still nice to have (almost) all the best stuff I had on bootlegs years ago in one place...

bleach was a good, not great album.. it contains moments of sheer magic but thats it!

I like Bleach and Incesticide. Nevermind has some good moments. In Utero has all their best and worst songs on it equally.

Their best album is Muddy Banks...
